What Are These?

What are these two panels for? Air flow, protection, cooling?

I would say cooling and air flow. Keeps the belly flatter and probably directs air in certain spots. Keep them if possible I would say.

I have no need to remove them, just never seen anything like this on a production car before.

The silver ones a sump guard too, first and foremost, because of how low down the engine (and therefore the sump) is.
I remember my '95 MR2 GT had factory installed body panels throughout the entire floor pan too.
I also thought I read that the FRS didn't get all the body panels initially...I think they might be added on the later models?
