Wheel help with 18x9.5 and 18x8.5 +35 et. Lowered, Tires. Advice requested
Hi all,
After spending nearly a week in the wheel fitment thread, here is what I've come up with. I am going to be getting Traklite Trak-K 18" Wheels. Black and machined. ![]() Currently I have stock suspension on Tein S-Tech Springs. They drop -1.22 front and 1.02 Rear. Here is what I keep going back and forth with. I cant decide to go with 18x8.5 staggered and 18x9.5 rear, both +35 et. Here is a picture with that setup and 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 rear: ![]() While this is probably the "safest" set up, I do LOVE the look of 18x9.5 square. Not sure if this is on springs or coils, or if it will work. Obviously here the issue is if I will have rubbing issues, or if the fronts will poke out too much: ![]() ![]() I was hoping I could run the above setup with 255/35/18s all the way around. After doing research on a few 18x9.5 threads, im seeing with 1" drop, 245/35 would be recommended for the front. Or drop down to 18x8.5 (lose an 1" of concaveness) and run the 225/40/18. I guess what I'm getting at here is if the 18x9.5 will work with the S-Techs, and if so can I use the 255 or should i go with 245 to minimize rubbing? Thanks in advance to anyone that can provide some info and shed some light before I pull the trigger. |

I've got 245/35/18 on the front (18x8 +48 wheels) using RCE yellow springs. I've got maybe 5mm of space between tire and spring perch.
Edit: I wasn't paying much attention to this post and just saw the part about +35. Take the information above and use it how you must, but don't think it's absolutely okay to use 245/35 tires just because it's a 245/35 tire. Last edited by sshole; 07-01-2014 at 02:15 PM. |

IIRC - I do not think a 9.5" wheel will clear the stock spring perch in the front so you'll have to go narrower in the front or get coilovers. 9.5" will clear the stock spring perch in the back.

Interesting. I thought had I had saw a few people use 18x9.5 in the front in the wheel fitment thread, but maybe I have to go through them again. its rough because the majority of people DONT say if they are on springs or coil overs.
I guess to be safe I will be going with 18x8.5 in the front. |

I have 245/35/18's on 18x9.5" +40 wheels all the way around, with a mild drop on coilovers and I do not rub at all.
I do not think the set up you are going for will work on springs unless the spring diameter of the Tein's is significantly less than stock. That is one of the main advantages of coilovers if you're looking to run an aggressive fitment. Running a 9.5 +35 in the front will definitely poke. I poke a little in the front as is with a +40 and will likely be buying camber bolts to try to dial it back. |

There's someone running 18x9.5 +38 squared with sportline springs (1.4 in drop front and rear) in one of the rpf1 threads. I'm on my phone so I'm too lazy to link it. Haha Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You can find pics/threads of folks running 18x9.5 +30 on stock struts. TiC did it, but I don't recall the tire size. Thought they had 265s all around, but don't quote me.
9.5" looks badass, but the best ones are in the +40 range. Just look up Jive Turkey's car and drool for a bit, then go buy coilovers.

^this car is on coilovers, but that's a 17x9.5 +38 for poke reference. You could probably get away with this size using a small spacer depending on clearance and tire choice. If you want any negative camber in front using bolts, this will decrease the amount of clearance to the spring perch even more. I know with my 17s, the perch is in line with the tire. Not sure if 18s put the edge of the rim there or if it's still just rubber in the way.
