Nvm this question was based more towards autox, and less track.

if you're in stock class then you can experiment with a stiffer front bar if you;'re planning on going coilovers then your spring choice should be chosen for autocross and any swaybars you get later should be there for fine tuning to different tracks, but that's like the icing on the cherry that goes on top of the icing that's on the cake...

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask. Seemed like as good as any, so my apologies if it belongs somewhere else. I've never done HPDE, AutoX, etc. Where should one start? Sorry if it's already been asked and answered. It's a long thread and I admit I didn't read through it.

The best learning tool is actually sitting with a safe driving instructor and have them show you the lines, brake/gas points, and how to pass safely. You'll realize that modification is a pinpoint activity to increase reliability, safety, and fun, not just the thrill of a one hit wonder.

For what it's worth, the dollar per minute value of HPDE is far superior to autocross. At auto props you'll likely spend all day there and get 4-5 minutes of seat time. At a single day HPDE, you'll get 60-80 minutes. Sent from a secret volcano base using trained sharks |

Myself and many others got their start there and I can tell you that most that have done autoX have much better skills at performance driving than those that have not. Many of the basic skills learned at autox (even by just watching others), give you a much better base of skills for HPDE including how to use weight transfer for grip and car rotation. Slow is fast is just one of those things you learn from Day1 in AutoX. Think of it as compressed learning. You get to do alot of car input and feedback in that 4-5 minutes. |

Or more (with HPDE). With groups like Trackdaze, you get 120 min/day -- basically four 30-min sessions.

I completely agree that autocross is a great place to learn skills that are valuable in HPDE and also on the street for safety. My comment was simply aimed at the dollar per minute value. ![]() Sent from a secret volcano base using trained sharks |

To add, anyone know a good site to find some local auto-x? Motorsportsreg seems to be more track day oriented? or maybe I'm using it wrong
