@AVOturboworld , will adding the billet turbo upgrade to a stage 1 kit running a 2,5" exhaust give any gains? Or is the 3" exhaust a must for the upgraded turbo?

It depends on what boost levels you are planning to run, and on what gas quality. The Billet Turbocharger is for higher boost/hp goals, you don't gain much at all if you are planning to just run at 6-8psi on pump gas.

So for a boosted car, you need generally a 3 bar unit, which would give you readings from 24-28psi max.
So that means, with the OEM MAP sensor you can actually only measure up to 0.5 bar of boost - is that correct?

In practice, it is probably going to be less than that. The readings on mine flatlined at just under 5psi/0.35bar.

Ok guys - so this is the plot my tuner gave me.

Unfortunately no info to boost, ambient temp & pressure. Is this an "ok" result?

Additionally: the date is from May - my car was a few days ago on the dyno....i guess. Haven't seen it strapped on the dyno though.

Edit: got info from the shop - they used a previous result of another car as a benchmark to see how my car performs. That's why there is an old date on the sheet.

Hello guys and gals. Just putting this out there, but if anyone has already upgraded to the stage 3 turbo (aside from Pitman), or is looking to upgrade... I am trying to get my hands on a spare stage 1 turbo, just the turbo, no piping or anything like that. Ask me no questions, I shall tell you no lies... But should anyone have one they want to get rid of, let me know.
K, thanks, bye!

Well, I had suspected for a little while and have now confirmed that I need a new clutch. Cruising on the highway yesterday in 6th, I gave it a little gas and watched the rpms jump up by about 500 without any change in speed.

If anyone is curious, I haven't done any launches or track days yet with the turbo. I think it just gave out from quick highway pulls and 10psi. I know 6th gear is tough on a clutch, but even at 6psi it now slips.

I'm thinking of the Exedy stage 2.

That sucks but it's inevitable. I have the exedy stage 1 on order. It's performs much higher than its rated and if feels stock

Excedys new stage 2 apparently has no chatter and near stock feel peddle pressure and driveability wise.. "So they say.."

That's what I've read. I noticed both stage 1 and 2 have the same clamping pressure. Not that it tells the whole story but it's at least an indicator of pedal effort.

I'd hate to get the stage 1 only to have it just good enough and be on the limit of it's abilities. My theory is that the stage 2 should last longer and take more abuse, intentional or otherwise.

Very close in price too I think.

I had an exhaust leak with the AVO 3" TBE so I couldn't get my car tuned because it was throwing a CEL. There is a tab on the downpipe that connects to the header which did not line up properly, so my shop tried cutting it off to see if it would help with the fitment issues but it seemed to make it worse. My shop has done the suggestions provided by Paul already, but nothing really seems to help with the fitment. It seems like fabrication is the only option left to get it to fit properly. Has anyone else have any issues with the AVO 3" TBE?

I've asked a couple times around here if anyone has the AVO 3" and no one has replied. I have one on order but I think for now you're on your own. You have me worried though. I figured the AVO piece would 100% be the best fit.

That's what I figured too. I went with the full 3" from AVO cause I thought it'd pretty much just bolt on and I'd be good to go. My shop and Paul were saying since it's 3" it's going to be a very tight fit. Paul is going to be working with my shop to get it working, but my shop has already cut off the tab from the downpipe. I just hope there isn't a bunch of cutting and rewelding done. It's an expensive system so I'm not sure why we have to go through all this to get it to fit.
