Cleaning the red threads on the steering wheel.
Recently took my FR-S to the dealership to have them replace the fuel pump for the cricket problem. The mechanic must have forgotten to remove his gloves and got grime on the red threads of the steering wheel. Anyone have recommendations for cleaning it without the possibility of pulling out the stitching?
I need to find another dealership. Between this and the fact they damaged the bottom of the front bumper cover, leaves me thirsting for blood. Fuck you North Hills Toyota, fuck you so very much.

Wow I was thinking to post something exactly like this. Except the dirt is from my sweaty paws.
I have a leather cleaner/conditioner and it didn't do anything. Interested in responses/

Slam them on every social media platform you can find. Can do wonders for their willingness to make things right.

I'm hoping so. Of course I didn't notice the scratches in the bumper until two days after it happened. It's not noticeable from standing height. I only noticed while using a cloth to remove bugs and it went from smooth to WTF is THIS?!

Some sort of fabric cleaner would probably be best. I keep a pair of gloves in my car for long drives or if my hands are dirty.
Don't judge me. |

I have a tube of shout spot remover in my trunk I just realized from laundry runs. I'll have to pick up a soft toothbrush and give it a go.

- Get a detailer to clean it.
- Get dealer to pay bill. |

I attempted to take photos of the results, but honestly it was so minor that it was hard to tell in the first photo that it was even dirty. I used shout stain lifter, the same stuff I use on my work shirts collars. I used an infants tooth brush and wiped it on top of the shout stick to add VERY LITTLE cleaner to the tooth brush. Gently scrubbed for about 30 seconds and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinsed off toothbrush and gently scrubbed for about a minute and half. Used a paper towel to gently wipe up the excess shout soap.
Worked great! |
