Right.
Its that picture right there that makes me think its a "For Funsies" car. I doubt that type of oil cooler would be used in a mass produced car.

Yep there it is. Doubt there is an intercooler behind that.

Tyres ; Pilot Super Sport?

First example that pops to mind is the current M5: https://m-power.com/_open/b/varlink2...d=2723&lang=en

Brz RA has a cooler ahead of the rad as well.

some people (like myself) are more interested in factory optioned upgrades than aftermarket-- thanks for sharing, here's to hoping we see more about this

The oil cooler on that page is laying parallel to the ground at the bottom of the engine bay. Which is an interesting concept, but it seems like it would mess with underbody aero on our cars.

And I don't think comparing a tweaked GT86 test mule to an M5 is really valid.

Same for me. I'd rather pay some extra $ for a coherent, well engineered and durable package...

I am no tuner myself, and it's too easy to screw up the car with mismatched components.
Plus even reputable after market brands sell some seriously shitty stuff, not to mention placebo mods.

To each their own, though. I am certainly not criticising the people brave enough to venture in the unknown of the after market tuning!

I think there is a GT86 version in Japan.

I didn't question the functionality of the oil cooler. Just that the type of oil cooler would not make it in a mass produced vehicle, strictly because of the mounting position and various regulations.

and as was pointed out, the mounting position on the BMW was in a different location than the one on the 86 in the image.
