Or is it more about how much vacum you have at idle?
The vacuum is what opens the BOV up. It doesn't care how much boost you are running as that just means it is further from vacuum.

Thanks King Tut for the quick reply, I have recently reconfigured my vacuum lines to create a safer boost environment by tapping the turbo housing and running that directly to the wastegate so there's less of a danger of boost increase going engine kabooom. The vacuum lines are seperate from that, running from the brake vacuum line as directed by FBM's kit install instructions. My boost gauge shows a max negative vacuum of -19 to -21, at idle its still very close to this negative pressure. So i was wondering if maybe it were impossible to have the BOV work off that vacuum area properly? if there is a possibility of running a different vacuum that has a greater pressure difference from boost release and idle?

ps- it is proper to have the BOV shut at idle and open at full vacuum?

cheers

So I finally got away from the snow and went south to BIR this weekend.
Ran over a dozen passes on Kato and drove him home 6hrs without a problem.

I'm car 10148, had some wheelhop issues in first gear and on occasion he would spin second so bad I would drift lol. All said he ran decent and I'm a set of slicks and a 3.73 diff away from 10's I think.

Idle should be very close to full vacuum. The only time you get into a larger vacuum situation is when off throttle and engine braking. Ideally you will want the BOV shut in both conditions or you can get into a situation where the car could stutter and possibly stall in those engine braking situations when you quickly stick the clutch in.

Yeah I'm going to ditch the radials and go to a full slick next time with a 3.73 diff so I don't have to shift to 5th

Oh there's no doubt in my mind it is a 10sec capable platform in the configuration I have. And considering I drove it there and back getting 33mpg I think that's pretty cool. I put quite a few full drag cars to shame as well.

so im running my BOV, MBC and wastegate off my intake manifold with a brown spring in the BOV and it doesn't open under partial boost and I get a little bit of turbo flutter (5-8 psi is when its pretty audible). Only WOT full boost do I get a clean fully open BOV sound. Should I try a different vacuum configuration(ie tapping the compressor housing for the MBC and wastgate) or try a new spring first? car pulls 19inHg of vacuum sometimes a little more. I cant find any springs locally so id have to wait and I hate that.
