I wouldnt have been happy with the 86 long term. I drove the Z to Hilton Head once to see my folks and it was rough, 6 hours in that car. 86 might be even worse. Im taking my Genesis up there again in a couple weeks, pretty sure its going to be much more comfortable for those long hauls being a cushy true Grand Touring car.

I found the seats in my BRZ to be much more comfortable than the seats in my Gencoupe. While the Gencoupe does have a much softer suspension and less cabin noise, the seats were a back breaker on long distance drives for me.

I think you'll be fine. If you find the Genesis seats more comfortable already then your opinion shouldn't change much. Just don't sit on your wallet for too long that always hurts. Remember you also have to factor in that people are different sizes and shapes!

2013 2.0T base. I did not have many complaints about the car, but the seats and manual transmission were the two biggest.

For shorter/normal the seats in the Gencoupe were fine. Anything over an hour and my lower back would hurt. And I don't usually have back issues with seats but it could just be me

The seats in the BRZ/FR-S are some of the best seats I have owned. If they fit the new WRX, I am tempted to try to find some used ones...

This. I've taken many 4-7 hour trips in my FRS. Getting close to 40mpg each time too mind you.

Honestly the cabin noise is not that bad at all in my car. I don't get all the issues people are having there. What noises are you people hearing exactly? A gen1 Prius is far worse as are most other cheap cars. It's pretty on par with my Legacy tbh. Maybe there actually are a few differences between the base and premium twins. I have some braces, dual HVAC and PTS but not the extra hood and trunk liners on the Subies.

Just for a sanity check. If you were comparing the chassis of the twins vs the genesis, which would you consider superior?

Getting on with some random jalopnik poster and I find it incredibly weird that he believes superior chassis equates to a more supple ride. Would that be your definition?

A superior chassis does not necessarily equate to a more supple ride. It just means they have more control over how the body flexes in relation to the suspension. A more rigid body = more control over the suspension = you can have a very luxurious ride with fantastic handling or you can have a harsh ride with racecar handling.

So, between the two cars, which car would have the superior chassis?

AGREED. The seats in the FR-S/BRZ look unaccomodating and uncomfortable but are actually QUITE comfortable and the driving position is spot on...and I'm coming from an M3.

Not exactly a point of which is better, but which you prefer.
