KBB says 20500 in good. Nada was around there too.

We all know those are guides....I've been out of BRZ/FRS stuff for a long while now. What would I realistically be able to get for it? Need to see how flipped I am.

Carmax is literally down the street. Honestly I think that is your best bet, don't knock them as they give great deals.

Doesn't even hurt to go for a estimate.

Laurel carmax has been known to give a lot more than other locations. As I said earlier it doesn't cost you anything but 20 minutes to take it in and get a piece of paper. Never know. Sometimes it maybe worth it. We took a scion tC into rockville and they gave us 6k and then a few months later with a few more k miles into Laurel and got 7k

Fine for a backup, but PP 99/100 times brings more than trade-in. Didn't answer my original question.

Of course PP will bring in more than selling to a carmax.

If KBB is saying 20,500 I would start off selling it at 21,500 or 22k and negotiate down. Always start higher and leave room for haggling because people will want to haggle.

I'd look to post it on autotrader or cars.com I think auto trader runs a thing call run it until it sells and its pretty much a 1 time fee until the car sells. I have sold plenty of cars via autotrader and craigslist actually lol.

Either way Realistically I think you should be able to get 20k solid.

Former Carmax salesman here (Ellicott city). SELL THIS SUMMER. July/August is your best bet. Carmax will ding you for mods but 33k isn't bad. Also depends on the appraisers and how the markets doing for the vehicle. If you want the best bang for your buck, go private and set high. Fastest sale would be carmax or a similar venue. It's really if you can or can't wait to sell. Hope this helps

Absolutely nothing. A buddy painted it for me, and since I couldn't see the issue under anything but the ideal circumstances, it didn't bother me.

Carmax won't like any car that has obvious aftermarket parts, like intake, exhaust, or suspension work.

Ah, gotcha. When I took it back yesterday they took a look at it and said it just needed to be buffed a little more, got it back 15 minutes later and from what I can it looks pretty good. I'll keep an eye on it over the next couple weeks like you suggested incase it's a shrinkage issue.

Thanks again for your help.

Having worked at CarMax corporate previously, this is true.

That being said, the appraisers also don't look over them too closely during the appraisal. Of the mods he listed, the only one I think he'd have a problem with is the intake and the custom blue interior, depending on what all is blue and how it's done. The springs are a subtle enough drop (and not a flashy color) that they likely won't notice during the appraisal.

I miss working there, especially the employee discounts. I had a SQL query saved to scan all stores inventory for VINs starting with JH4DC231 to try and find a decent ITR to use for track days back then, unsurprisingly the few that I found while working there were across the country.
