I'd trade it for an FR-S easily.

1. It is not an SS so it's already not that great being a V-6.
2. It is a tank. It desperately needs a redesign and weight reduction. Chevy needs to learn from Ford because the 5.0 is still faster than the Camaro, minus the Z28 now, but that one is in supercar range in price.
3. Blind spots. This car has the worst blind spots of any sports car I've sat in.

Don't get me wrong, I've owned a previous generation Camaro SS, (2002 anniversary model with the checkered racing flag stripes) and I do love them. They're a great bang for your buck car like the Mustang GT 5.0. They just really need to go back to that LS-1 style body which was lighter and make it a bit safer for me to consider trading my FR-S back for one. For now, the only car I'd trade my FR-S straight up for is a new Mustang GT 5.0 because 400 horsepower from the factory is just nuts for under 30k.

I considered a Camaro until I drove one. Big disappointment! Almost didn't even want to test drive it when I sat down, worst ergonomics in a car I've felt. Love the retro looks and I also have a Corvette in my garage. Just drive the BRZ/FRS and you'll be sold...

Try more like 90k with the good options. Just like a GTR except those can push over 100k.

Not even close to supercar money and the GTR starts at over $25000 more than the Z/28 for just a basic GTR, and over $40000 more for a black edition.

btw, I've owned 5 fbodies, and actually went to compare the mustangs vs. camaros when I bought my mustang back in 2010. I preordered a new mustang with the new bodystyle and the 5.0 with the track package, before buying the frs. It's a completely different type of driving experience.

I have no regrets on my choice (my wife on the otherhand, really misses the space and the comfort of the mustang haha).

If you like the test drive in the Toyobaru. Don't trade in the Camaro. Private sell as you will get more out of it. Then take your money and buy a BRZ/FRS.

I went from an FRS to a Mustang. Definitely a huge size difference which translates into the type of driving experience. Just know that the size and low weight of the twins comes at a cost. Increased NVH and less comfort. For some people that is not a big deal at all. For others it can be a hassle on a daily basis.

Take one on a nice long test drive to really get a feel for the car. Camaro's may be heavy, ponderous, and have poor viability, but they can cruise down the interstate for days are and very quiet inside. When I hit the toll roads and set cruise control at ~85mph, its effortless in my mustang. The FR-S was a much more taxing experience on the highway. I live an hour away from everything, so I'm not sure how much long distance commuting you actually do.

As for fuel economy, I had a lifetime average of about 27.5mpg over 10k miles in my FRS, and would do about 31mpg on the highway. You have to use premium gas though, which is something you don't have to in your Camaro. That offsets the increased economy of the FR-S.

I'm on the fence too. I love my car, but there are two things that are making me trade to either, and FRS or a 1LE. The first issue is the inherent problem with all Direct injection setups. The clogging of the intake valves. The next is the damn AisinY6 trans who hates to shift into second and third. Makes me look like a noob when I hit the strip.
