Could it be that no one has found a reliable way to turbocharge the FA20? I don't know exactly how the rules work in Europe, but they seem to separate NA and FI into separate subclasses. All the 86 successes I've seen are with NA engines.

The car is legal in NA form in the Continental Sports Car Series ST class and the Pirelli World Challenge TCA class. In both cases, it would be competing against the Civic Si, Kia Forte Koup and Mazda MX-5. The ST class also adds the BMW 1 and 3 series, Genesis coupe, Porsche Cayman and Boxster, Nissan Altima Coupe and Mazda3 among others.

After a year and a half of trying, the Scion/TRD/Robert Stout Racing FR-S has proven to be a disaster trying to race against the big boys in the GTS class in supercharged form. Scion should follow Mazda's example and race the FR-S in the class where it belongs like the former did with the MX-5 with great success.

Yep, I hadn't seen any other photos and it was hard to tell about the intake manifold. Definitely a custom intake manifold. Looks sweet in that classic STI wrinkle red. Stut tower bars aren't banned from the spec class I race in, but I don't run one. I suspect they didn't notice any difference and decided there was no use for one.

FYI, the race just started. Lead car is a McLaren lapping in the 8:20s. Class sp8 leader & 27th overall is Gazoo LFA (#48). Class SP3 leader is the Gazoo GT86 (#86). In class V3 positions 1-5 are all Toyota GT86s, followed by a Miata in 6th. Only 23 hours to go!

Never knew an Opel Manta was that quick. In the v3 class the 8 GT86s that entered this class are now running 1-8, then a Honda Civic R, a Miata, Renault Clio, Subaru BRZ, and Opel Astra. Interesting the BRZ is struggling...

Dang, I'm going to miss the finish--have to board a plane. With 2 hrs to go, a few class leaders are:

v3: Toyota Swiss GT86, Toyota Swiss GT86, Honda Civic Type R
sp3: Gazoo GT86, Renault Clio Cup, Opel Manta
sp8: Gazoo LFA, Aston Martin Vantage V12, Aston Martin Vantage V12
spPro: Gazoo LFA, Porsche 911 GT3 RSR

The last 2 hrs should be interesting.
