Plate has officially been stepped up to.

So Choi0706 dropped me a line and asked if we could handle this a few weeks ago. That same day a set of stock seats came up for sale on our local Houston 86 club facebook group for $250 for the set so I figured it was fate and bought them.

Up side: We have now figured out how to do it. It took a good bit of head scratching and we can get about 1 - 1.5" drop in seating position at the lowest (depends on weight of driver) while keeping full mobility and adjust ability of the seat. Highest seating position is also lower by 1.5" or so, but that is why they make extra cushions! The modification does retains the stock tracks and adjusters so while it may or may not actually BE legal in a stock class, it would be impossible to spot in tech without fully disassembling the seat.

Down side: requires some cutting and welding on the seat and some modification to the cushion to retain stock comfort after the mods. Takes about 5-6 hours all in. 2-3 if you want to do the foam cushion work yourself. We tried like hell to get it done as a bolt in, but unfortunately it is impossible for a number of reasons. Labor rate is $85/hr.

Drop us a line if you want more info.

It will work fine - the heaters are located between the seat cover and the top of the cushion. That area is un-affected by this modification.

There is no externally visible difference once completed aside from the seat cushion sitting lower, which is very hard to see from pictures - it looks like a stock seat. Maybe Jay will post a picture of his.

Oh - and it looks like we can get it done in about 4 hours all in, including removal and re-installation. So the cost comes to about $340

I'll try and get a picture.. Biggest difference is the view! Ahh, seeing out the middle of the windscreen is great!

Max, one of our larger 6' employee's was kind enough to model for the pics.

Enjoy our highly scientific approach to showing the difference in head/roof clearance with and without the seat mod.

PS: its hot in Texas!
