I want to buy you a beer some day. As someone who takes long drives, many times in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night, even the 'night' mode is super bright. Knowing I can turn that off makes me sooooo happy.

If you press and hold the "Audio" button, a hidden menu appears that, as far as I know, is not in the manual for the nav unit. If you're in day mode, a "Night" button appears at the top of the screen in that menu. If you're in night mode, that button says "Day" instead. Pressing that button toggles the night/day modes and causes it to ignore the headlights without having to adjust your display to full brightness.

So if you're driving with your headlights on in the rain during the day and want your display at daylight brightness, just press and hold the Audio button and push the "Day" button on the screen. I wish those idiots had put that in the manual instead of having me curse them for months for not including an intuitive way to override the automatic brightness settings.

I tried it too and it doesn't work on the Monogram. Then I pushed Setup button and lo and behold the option is right there under display.
Screen shots.

When you hit setup Display is at the top

Options to "turn off" screen go to day/night and adjust brightness and contrast are all in one spot.

It's the button you use as the trunk handle. Press here and if the key fob is on you the trunk will pop open. No need to use a key or push a button.

On the BRZ there's a rubber button right between the tag lights, directly under the emblem. Here's a picture of it on my dirty car:

Unless the FR-S trunk is different, I think the "handle" he's talking about is the recessed area for the tag lights. Just press the rubber doofus and the trunk will pop without you ever having to touch your key fob.

On the other hand, I prefer to use my key fob, because the less I have to touch my dirty road-grimed trunk lid, the better.

iirc the "day mode" option only shows up with the lights ON in my Monogram.

From your pic I can see an option for screen off. I will have to check this out. It didn't make sense that when you hit power off and you are still driving that the screen stays on.

I keep my lights set to auto and didn't notice it until you said that. When I pull out my garage my headlights are on and the screen is in night mode for about 30 seconds in bright sunlight and in night mood it is very hard to see. So there really is no reason to use it in daylight, but I did find a different setting in navigation.

This is in the daylight as you can tell. If you go into navigation settings, the screen is always set to automatic. You can see in the next photo you can set it to Day only or night only even in the day.

The middle of the steering wheel, where the logo is. If you press it, the car will make a loud beeping sound.

Where is this?

If the sound generator is making too much sound inside the cabin, they supplied a plug (from the outlet behind the glovebox) to stuff into the mouth of the sound generator tube where it comes through the firewall.

Pull the front of your passenger floor mat carpet back and you'll see a hole that it should plug right into. It's really hard to miss.
