Agreed, either you like it or you don't. I'm looking at this thread from a non owner / potential buyer's point of view.

If it won't fit, it's probably more than I want to haul anyway. No kids so no real backseat required. Oh yeah and the gas mileage is fabulous. So problem solved: if you bought the car and don't like it, it's probably because you are a guy!

Because every guy is 7' tall and 250+ lbs? What about big girls? I'm 5'6 ~140 lbs. and love everything about the car. Will I go FI after the warranty is up? Most likely. But it's simply because I want to. Not because it has no power. I bought the car to enjoy. I enjoy tinkering.

The true bottom line, too many people have bought into the "moar powa" mindset.

That is what my friend said the first time she drove my FRS. "This car feels, I dunno... girly. The clutch, the shifter, the steering."

That's a mouthful considering she's also driven my Miata.

I'm 5'11 and 180-198 (depending on the season), and she's 5'5 118.

Not hating - just different times and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Without the original AE86, there would be no FR-S.

heavily modifying a car always come with risks and compromise.
like OP i am tired of reading about people who bought car, mod it, then get tired and sell it.
this is not the cars fault, this is the owner's.
from life, i understand some peeps have to learn the hard way, and opening a topic about buyers remorse will not help them see past what they do not understand. peeps will see what they want to see and believe what they want to believe. but such is life.
in reality, most people dont like to drive. it doesnt matter what kind of car they drive, all they think about is getting from point A to point B and sometimes C. they want comfy seats, probably four doors, they want expensive/reliable car brand, they want nice rims, efficient gas, with a sales price tag.
for the small population who enjoying driving, the FRS/BRZ is a potential option and affordable car for them. backspace maybe an issue if kids and carseats are involved.
so OP, enjoy ur car cause it was built for the "drivers" of the world.

In comparison, the sports cars of the day were running 80-140hp 4 cylinders and inline 6 cylinder engines.

Exotics? Nobody is talking about exotics.

Exept maybe the fact that the FR-S is capable of keeping up with many ... just like the inexpensive sports cars of the past.
Indeed, if you look through sports car history you find many more examples of surprisingly low power that you have to work for. Low, light weight, RWD coupe or the classic English roadster FR layout (The MX5/Miata is a British car, to hell with the Japs). People still to this day bite your arm off to get a chance to enter these cars in classics rallys, just so they can enjoy what these kind of cars offer at their limit. The list of models is as long as your arm.

Before buying this car, if you can picture yourself standing in a dark car park at 11pm with engines, whistling turbos, popping and banging around you, slammed poser mobiles, pimped out exteriors/interiors and insanely loud stereo systems. If you can now picture yourself when someone comes to you and your GT86/BRZ/FRS and asks, "What power/torque/0-60/0-100 does it have/do?" and you may feel a little let down or be in anyway ashamed.... walk on.

If you can't picture yourself there because you will be belting round twistie back roads because they are empty at that time of night, then check your finances and put down the deposit.

You'll find me at the nearest roundabout and when you lose your license while attempting to see what your turbo beast will do in a straight line, you can piss right off, you ain't getting a lift.
