Hold onto it if you warrant any games worth keeping that you will actually want to replay in the future. It seems as if backwards compatibility is no longer a feature consoles want to offer anymore. Another route you could go is trade it in or sell it privately now to get as much back as you can. PS3s aren't like Dreamcasts and if you ever decide to want one again there are plenty out there on eBay and stuff.

That' the route I would go, but then I'm an old school guy who grew up playing PC games because they were so much better than consoles in the day. Now, I've played so much keyboard/mouse that I can't make the jump to a controller.

One piece of advice with this, if you are going to spend extra money, spend it on the graphics card. Just about any relatively recent processor will play games fine as long as the graphics card is up to snuff. I usually hold on to my primary gaming PC 5 years, but do at least one video upgrade. Don't spend stupid money on the card though, the top of the line one gen back is always a great bang for the buck.

I'd also recommend holding on to the PS3. Being able to go back years later and play retro games is a lot of fun. Building PCs can be a lot of fun, I've been building since I was your age and have been building PCs for myself and friends for over 20 years now; it gets addicting.

The best advantage that the PC has really is price. You can spend one or two hundred dollars more on the computer, sure. But what you'll make up for in savings if you wait for game sales will easily eclipse the initial cost over the period of ownership.

And yes hang onto your PS3. If you don't, there will come a time you want it and you'll kick yourself for not having it.

Ive been a petrolhead since my family bought our first car, after that I got interested in cars so much that I could recognize cars around me just by their headlamps/taillamps.

Ha sounds just like me when I was 12. But when I was 12 the internet was a pretty new thing and we all had incredibly slow dial up modems and AOL lol.

This is true PC or console. I never buy a game when its new. I've got enough of a Steam backlog I stay content and I have something to look forward to next!

If you just wait, it could be true for console. But it seems like unless you're buying used, most console games don't drop below 30 or so unless they're being clearanced out or they're a yearly rehash. Meanwhile, you'll have 1-2 month old PC games going for 50% off during some sales, and very often Green Man Gaming has a 20-25% off coupon for just about everything, including preorders on games that aren't even out.
