Yeah, I know the drill. Unfortunately they have your car torn apart and SOA is saying "We aren't paying."

Now what? Lawyer time. This is where they have to prove it. Up to then, they've just been holding your car hostage and telling you that you need to pay them thousands of dollars to get it back.

I have never had this happen personally, but we've all heard the stories.

Back in '06 my dealer was very mod-friendly. They would service *anything* and they would be very lenient about trying to point the finger at mods - none fo this "Oh your harsh suspension caused your electronics to fail, too bad" crap. Hopefully that is still the case.

I have to agree with this. If I had to replace my 2ZZ MR-S there is only two cars that are currently being sold new that I could do it with and get close to the same general level of performance and feel. They are the FR-S and BRZ and because they are essentially the same car, in my mind, they have no competition.

FI = problem solved…

But personally I think the car is fast where it counts, and that's all I really need to be happy with it.

let's be honest here. we know its slow. it's a fact. that is why just about everyone here has put in a cold air intake, exhaust of some kind, headers, over pipes, and downpipes to increase power; on top of that, custom tunes and force induction. owner's have modified their suspension to their taste and added bodykits and lipkits and whatever else that they find. I plan to do just about all the above to increase power because I know it lacks power.

I think from my opinion the lack of power on this car does limit its potential. I do, however, believe that adding power to the car only brings out more of its potential and it's not necessarily a bad thing. I don't see why people are crying about adding power to the car?

I have an end to this discussion... Get Crawford power blocks and an exhaust. You won't cry anymore about your car being so slow

My 2003 f250 with 6.0 at 575hp and 900 and something tq is fast enough to play with Corvettes. I would not give up my twin as my daily driver for it. Fast is as fast does.

Never saw this before, Now I'm interested! LOL

Back to topic, I think our 86/FRS/BRZ are designed with tuner in mind as it promotes ppl to mod them, drift them, play with them along with a nearly prefect price point. I think it was even mentioned in an interview?

I have a perrin inlet tube and cold air intake, borla UEL header, ARK catless front pipe, perrin overpipe, berk muffler delete, and I just installed the power blocks, no tune yet, my roommate has a stock brz they feel like 2 different cars... I also have some other mods but as far as power it's night and day

No one is blatantly saying that. Anyone that has ever brought that subject to light has done so because the swarm of people saying it needs more power.

This car is what it is for a reason. It's a lightweight, superior handling sports car, because of this it does not need more power. That's what you have to understand, and I think that's what a lot of others are trying to get across.

If you want more power, buy a car that's built for power, designed for it. Sure the 86 could use more power, but so could every lightweight car. So could any go kart, sports car, F1 car. Any chassis could arguably be better with more power. There comes a point where you get so concentrated on making power, that you lose sight of what really mattered in the first place (in this car handling and driver feel.)

HP is not everything. Some people want a car for it's agility, driver feedback and feel. Like I said before, any car that was ever considered "driving nirvana" has had low HP numbers.

My first car was a Mazda MX-3 with a whopping 88hp 1.6L I4. This thing is a rocket compared to that.

Well no car NEEDS more power... some owners WANT more power from their car. And more power does not come at the expense of agility, driver feedback and feel..

I've said it before, a full bolton (Michael Bolton that is...) twin is pretty close to the driving nrivana you speak of for me... For which IMO the main requirement is not low HP, but low weight. Low HP and driving nirvana has absolutely no link.. it's actually quite the opposite.

Live and let live my friends... I don't like rocket bunny, and I don't like turbo lag... but I appreciate that some love their cars just as much as I do and have turbos and/or rocket bunnies.. They ''get'' the car just as much as you and me.

The Porsche Cayman S is very close to the weight of our cars, is a better driver's car and has over 100 horsepower more.
