Hopefully you would be able to translate that sometime. I tried the Google close caption translate and it was hilarious.

After watching like 2.5 decades of Best Motoring (bootleg VHS -> bootleg DVD -> Bittorrent -> YouTube), all I could pickup are simple terms such as:

Gan San = Mr. Grandpa
Dori Dori = Drift King
Hat Chan = Tall Punk Dude
Hayai = Hella Fast
Abunai = Oh Shit! Watch Out
Starto = Go!
Yapari = I Know Duh!
Inte R = Integra Type R
Yon W D = Four Wheel Drive

All else being equal, less twist of the driveshaft giving better response and feel.

Close... Pretty much all he said is help of drive shaft been bigger (by 4%), response from up/down shift is much more crisp.

Now for driveshaft topic, like I said on the top, it only increase by 4%. For some, that's a lot. For some, that's nothing. Gazoo Racing do test drive of tS (you can find it on YouTube & it's 3 vid long, if you're interested). They even stated that, response is better than stock BRZ. They also stated that higher the speed it gets, tires, brakes, driveshaft & other tuning match together. Make you want to go fast, but at the same time, it feels safe.

Now it all makes sense to me as to why STI cannot be bothered selling these cars globally especially in North America, no chance in hell would their western marketing counterparts be able to figure out how to sell the product with such complicated detail, when the engine is exactly the same.

This is really OCD engineering an existing product in true Japanese fashion (reminds me of old Sony High End Audio marketing literature that only exists for JDM, but not a word about such obsessive things like chassis design or engineered material usage once marketed overseas). But I digress.

BTW 2 months after installing the STI pillowball stuff in the rear suspension, because it's now summer time and I tend to drive with the windows down, I can finally hear the clanking from them when going over really bad uneven roads (when the HPFP isn't chirping loudly lol). It's a very faint yet noticeable mechanical sound which is wicked but some might be bothered by that as a daily driver.

With that information, a larger diameter drive shaft would allow you to increase engine/transmission RPM safely in terms of the drive shaft.

I don't believe they have increased the RPM limit in the BRZ tS, but the TS driveshaft is a lighter, larger, and single piece drive shaft.

So if they haven't increased the RPM range in the tS, then the benefit of a larger diameter drive shaft is kind of lost.

It's larger diameter because it needs to be since it's a one piece shaft. Length is a (very) large factor in critical speed as well.

You will get more results for your money from a flywheel, lighter wheels/tires, etc. This STI driveshaft sounds like.a great OEM option to the carbon fiber aftermarket options, but spend your money elsewhere first.

True, but a lightweight flywheel is the first to seriously effect drivability as it makes the car easier to stall. Driveshaft and wheels are win/win situations (so long as the driveshaft keeps the same critical speed!)

I am not saying that the one piece driveshaft isn't performance intended, I'm just saying if the larger diameter only modifies critical speed, then the larger diameter drive shaft is not needed.

Not saying a lighter one piece drive shat isn't needed. Just a larger diameter isn't needed.

1 piece vs 2 piece is the important part there, not the increased size (which is normal for trying to hit the same critical speeds). If it's an aluminum shaft, it doesn't matter how long it spends at that speed, it's going to work harden and fatigue.

Received my tS dash panels yesterday. Looks much better than my previous DIY carbon vinyl wrapped dash panels.

Checked on Japanparts, the front lip now has a 45 to 60 day delivery time. Did you guys have to wait this long?

My local dealer in Toronto can't even order the STI body kit, claiming the NA part numbers don't go thru. Ugh!

upcoming on Japanparts the white JDM courtesy door lamp (in Europe are red).. my request of this morning to Yuki.

It seems that Subaru has a good availability of tS meter, sometimes ETD is about 1 week.

So I contacted the Japanese guy who wrote this article: http://minkara.carview.co.jp/en/user...3243/note.aspx

He confirms that the part ST20159ST000 is a bolt on from the tS, reinforces that rear link fixation.

However, he says to be cautious with part ST20176AS000, as it may require other parts to fit properly on a non tS car.

By a bit, and not by much. I installed mine today.

you're better off saving your money. Its the same connector piece with a denser foam on the inside.

Remove your stock one, pull the foam out, cut a piece of sponge and put it inside the connector then place it back inside the car. That's basically what the TS one is.

Im not saying its bad... it works... its just not like WOW, its more like oh, it changed a little. And I really feel like I could have just made the change myself.
