Is there a sensor or something that I might have accidently unplugged while changing the air filter? Guess I'll be calling Toyota tomorrow, rather not.
eeek, that dont sound good at all. was car running before you attempted to flash ?

the only sensor that you might have disturbed was the maf sensor in the tube at back of filter box but unlikely.

no chance you disturbed cable or turned off during write ?

it sounds like it went to write and failed, unfortunatly first process before write is to erase rom, if car wont start sound like thats what happened.

ring the oft guys they may have a trick, if you know someone with a tactrix cable they will be able to rewrite the stock rom for you . The oft will choke now as it wont be able to read the stock rom id so it does not know which rom to let you write.

Try writing stock rom back to car its your only hope

While looking at my cable, now that I have remove it from the car. It seems that there are two pins, in the middle opposite of the clip, that are longer than the rest. Is this normal? Didn't pay attention to that when I got it.

Are you using any type of extension? I know that my extension would let me data log but would fail when flashing

About all you have left would be remove batt terminal to reset ecu and try again, but sounds like rom is erased.

Got my open flash today. Really excited but after reading my ecu to proceed to the next steps to tune, the tablet doesn't even have an option to write or read (after the tablet saved my stock rom file). Can anybody help?

Once you read your ROM, the Read selection will be greyed out. No need to read it again. If the right option is also unavailable, that means the OFT did not recognize your stock ROM and was unable to auto-generate maps. This usually happens with ECUs that previously had an Ecutek tune on it (even if it was flashed back to "stock". Either way, simple solution is to just manually load the desired tune ROMs using OF manager software. Takes a couple extra minutes and requires a laptop. But if you call the office tomorrow, we can walk you through it quickly.

I really just sounds like your battery is dead. Are you able to flash your original ROM back to your ECU?

My car was never flashed with ecutek. I tried doing what you just said right now and when it went to complete the updates..it says error in32 or something and just quits the program if I press quit or just freezes if impress continue. Thank you for your prompt reply, shiv!

Will give this a shot after work before I call my dealer. Is there some kind of residual charge that the battery needs to be disconnected from a given amount of time? Will wait 15 minutes for the hallibut.

If a power off reset doesn't work, I'll try a dead jump from a battery pack.

UPDATE:

Thank you. you guys are awesome! i spoke to Robert over the phone and he resolved the issue with me. it was just a matter of downloading the right file to the tablet and writing that on the car's ECU. did i tell you guys that you guys rock? car feels way better now without the "soggy" throttle pedal feel that i had before the flash with the UEL installed.
