Upgrading frs
Hello. My plan for my FRS is to be a summer car and tracking occasionally.
I want some upgrades on my performance. Thinking of intake and exhaust then going for an ecu upgrade. Short Ram or Cold Air? Know any good gains from certain sets? or what did you get for your frs? Please include the prices, gains, and where did you get this from. Would really be helpful. |

Skip the intake, drop in filter, then the oft/ofh combo.
Drop in - $50 Open flash tablet/header combo - $1000 Best gains you can make without fi. |

Suspension work is where most of your performance gains are going to be for track use, a drop in filter and an engine tune will be your best bang for buck power mods. Headers and overripe upgrades will reduce the torque dip and net a little up top too.

Power increase can be done AFTER you driving skill is improved. If you can make S2k run for their money w just suspension, brake & tires, lets talk about power. |

drop in filter > Injen intake though. That is my opinion though. Not a bad "cheap" list overall.

If you're tracking... upgrade the BRAKES! Get SS lines, high temp brake fluid and performance pads... unless you like fading brakes.

Bingo. This the only power mods you need if you stay N/A. The only other thing is a set of decent light wheels plus tires, brake pads, and Fluids. If its really hot where you and you plan to push hard, an oil cooler.

I see that drop in filters are famous for this one; why?
Open flash tablet it is.. Any more header/exhaust suggestion? I am in no rush of tracking the car. I will probably do it next summer, but will upgrade my suspension this year. Same for the wheels.. there are always a surprise in winter. (but not gonna drive it)

Sort through the exhaust sub forum for more info.
I personally went with the following: Motiv overpipe, Motiv front pipe, & greddy sp elite (all bought from someone on here, so no real thought went into those, $700). Ordered ft86speedfactory catted header, but still waiting. ~$1k. Intake is just a drop in filter (K&N, ~$35) and a Perrin tube that I also got on here for $100. Drop ins are common because the stock intake is already pretty well designed. SSR type c wheels that I bought from the NASIOC forum (imprezzas, which have same wheel/hub size, so check that place out for local sales), ~$800 once I refinished them. Also put a set of Michelin pilot super sports on at ~$800 installed. |

I would not worry about a fp, op, or even mid pipe. Want more aggressive sound, header+axleback
