[Question] DRL Bulbs and HID Alternatives

Hi guys, I have a few questions related to replacing bulbs:

DRL
I had a bad experience with some DRL LEDs that I bought from a vendor here, so I'm thinking of going another route. Specifically, I'm thinking of getting Nokya Arctic White bulbs. They have a list of Stage 1 bulbs here: http://mtqinc.com/nokyausa/headlights/aw1/aw1.php. And a list of Stage 2 bulbs here: http://mtqinc.com/nokyausa/headlights/aw2/aw2.php. Now this may sound like an extremely noob question, but which bulbs am I supposed to get? I'm not very technical so I don't know about wattage or anything. Which ones from the list are suitable for our cars?

HIDs
When I first got my car, I just bought some HID bulbs and put them in the stock projectors. I didn't know about retrofitting, and I didn't know this would cause a problem for other drivers. But now that I do know, I want to fix this problem. I don't want to retrofit, so are there other bulb alternatives? I want something brighter and whiter than the stock lights, but HIDs are a no go if I don't plan on retrofitting. Any recommendations on alternative bulbs I can use?

Thanks guys!

HID's are the way to go! Love them! It is nothing big at all to retrofitting. Hook up stock connector to ballast and ballast to bulbs! Simple and clean.

Modified H9 bulb will fit in the spot of an H11 and still keep the alignment. It's quite a bit brighter.

For the high beam, you could use a modified 9011 HIR bulb (these are not HID, it's a special coating on the inside of the bulb that makes the filaments burn brighter).

Thanks for the info! But can you explain what you mean by a "modified" bulb?

Let's say I buy the H9 100w bulb on this page: http://mtqinc.com/nokyausa/headlights/aw2/aw2.php. What do I have to do to it to make sure it fits my FRS?

I have modified H9 arctic white Nokyas in my low beams and they're really not that great. Go with HIDs. Ill probably go back to that eventually. I don't drive enough at night to really care either way though.

Color has little to do with performance. But, no, you're not going to get the same look. Headlights are about function first, looks last.

You have to trim the locking nubs, it's not hard. I wouldn't use blue filter bulbs at all. Halogen cycle puts out very little blue, so they have to run the bulbs even harder to get the light out of them. Not to mention that our eyes don't like blue light very much and it makes it harder to see...

See above. Use a good normal H9 bulb, not a coated one.

H11: 1700 lumens
H9: 2100 lumens

9005: 1700 lumens
9011: 2300 lumens

HID's glare in halogen designed headlights because of their differing design goals, alignment, and the standards they have to meet.
