If the BOV is being held shut by the boost line to it + spring then I see no other reason why I can't use, say a 10inHG spring other than the valve being open during idle and cruise.
The valve being open at any time other than when it is needed is not good. Even if tuned speed density or the "leak" is pre-MAF it is unfiltered air. BOV/BPV should be shut unless it is needed to release unwanted pressure.

Ya, Ill be trying a new spring tomorrow. If that doesn't work im going to look over any other possibilities. Turbo seems to run great otherwise.

I'll add to this that I was having a hard time fine tuning the injectors for my car until I got the correct spring and shut the BOV and my tuning issues went away (even as it is pre-MAF).

I do remember reading this about your set up. I just don't understand how it could matter unless your BOV was too close to the MAF. The air going through my BOV has about 5-6 feet of intercooler piping + an intercooler before it hits the MAF. Surely the MAF in this situation won't be able to tell the difference between air from the turbo and air from the cracked open BOV?

With the intercooler covering 90% of the grill opening, it doesn't allow much air to the AC concensor.

Removing the foam front bumper thing will allow a bit more air in.

I have the different crash bar, and cut holes in my bumper, LOTS of extra air in through the front, and my AC actually works better than before I installed my turbo kit, even on a 100 degree day.

Honestly, it doesn't make sense to me either... It is a good 7 inches before MAF, I don't think it would cause any turbulence, it's a good 7-8 inches away from MAF. But I kid you not, I spent countless days trying to dial in injectors with @jamesm. I tried it for shits and giggles to see if anything changed and the difference was very noticeable. Also, car created boost earlier in RPMs and feels way more responsive to throttle. It sounds like a commercial for Royal Purple but for real, that is what I noticed.

Any owners have catch cans? What's the consensus? I've read that they're only needed with FI and heavy tracking. Since I track with the ESC I'm wondering if I need one... Thoughts?

I dont own FB, but with the avo kit that I have I find that there is a minute amount of oil in the intake. After just regular spirited driving I find the afterfires are becoming a bit to much and becoming a problem.

I already have mine on the way. The PCV valve helps buuuuut its not working well enough. Save yourself the trouble and some oil and buy one

The PCV definitely spits out oil into your intake manifold. You don't even have to be boosted to see this.

The PCV will only be able to spit oil when you are not in boost as the positive pressure in the intake manifold will stop any flow from the PCV valve.

So it becomes a matter of keeping your engine internals and intake manifold free'er of oil build up.

I could have saved you all that time. 7 to 8 inches is way too close for it not to cause issues. Remember it isn't the air coming in that is causing the issue, it is the turbulance of the air and it not being pulled straight across the MAF sensor. No different than the turbulance created by a poor MAF placement on a curvy piece of pipe.

Do you want hot oiley air being pulled into your intake and intake manifold? If the answer is no, then get a catch can.
