Gonna give this route a go tomorrow too, as my overlords informed me this week that I'll be working the weekend of the 28th.

Any idea what time? I will be getting down there around 10am. My brother and I will be running the route with our Spyders. We will check for photo op locations and make sure the roads are in good shape. If any part of it is boring we will look for alternates that are more interesting.

We will be starting out from the pin location on RT313 and running the route clockwise. 12065 Claysville Rd is the address. Stop in and say "Hi" or do the drive with us if you like.

I might do that, only about 45 minutes from there. I'll have my 4 year old with me so apologies if I don't hang the whole trip.

Edit: Up early so we're gonna head out, will keep an eye out for you guys.

My brother and I did the pre-run today. I am glad we did it. I definitely need to take out one stretch near the end because I think I am going to have to re-torque some bolts on my car after the shaking it took.

The first part of the route is fairly leisurely with high speed sweepers and a few widely spaced technical (as in tight) spots. There are a few interesting photo ops including the bucket scoop from BIG Musky (that would easily hold an FR-S and a BRZ when it was functioning) and Burr Oak State Park which has a lodge similar to Salt Fork and a big parking lot for photos. There are some good locations for a fly-by video if someone wants to do one.

The middle part of the route has some sweepers and some tight stuff linked by long relaxing straight sections.

The last section is the gem of the entire drive and the route change that I want to make means that we will run it west to east first and then turn around and run the best part of it again in reverse, east to west. We will then take a portion of RT555 south to RT37 and go back through the northern part of McConnelsville before turning north and getting back to the original route.

The change may add 15-20 minutes or so to the drive time but it also means that we get to do the best and most challenging part of the route twice. There should be something for everyone. There are sections were you can cruise and look around and there is a section where you will be focused on apexes and the cars brake lights in front of you.

We also scouted out bathrooms and gas stations along the way in case anyone needs to make a pit stop. Traffic was light despite the holicay weekend. It should be a good day of driving.

After the drive we can either return to my brother's house were he is willing to host a BBQ or we can stop at a restaurant near the end of the route called North Star that is known for its pizza and ice cream. We need to figure this out as the time gets closer so arrangements can be made.

Great work, thanks for doing the scouting!

Ended up taking 93 south from Coshocton to 13 down to Glouster, then back up 78 and 83. That was good stuff.

So you ran that in reverse to the way we ran it. If you do that again then take a right off of RT93 on to RT 669 east and stay on it until you get to the Muskingum River. You will not be sorry. Once you get to the river turn right and it will take you back to RT 37/RT 78.

This is the section that I will run both directions on the day of the drive. It is that good.

Liking the numbers so far!

Behind the scenes I've been talking to Rampage/Steve and we were working on a couple detail changes--one of which would be the Start point. There is a location that Steve has talked to called the "Banana Peel," which has food and more than enough parking for us to meet and start out at. We'll plan on meeting there at 11 AM.

Second question that came up was the post-drive BBQ. I know we're all excited to get out there and drive, but how many people would want to hang around for a little bit afterwards and do some BBQ at Steve's Brother's house? Unfortunately I will not likely be able to stick around, so I'm a no, but don't let me sway any of you.

Sorry you can't make it!

Is 55 mph a problem? Some of the more challenging roads are a blast at 55, if you can even handle them at that speed.
