And as for Porsche my 987's steering feel and feedback is heads and shoulders above the steering feel of the 981 (2014 Cayman). I've had one as a loaner for a day and also drove them both back to back. It's like night and day.

What about the PS pump overheating and blowing up on the track? Isn't that an issue in 987/986s? Anyways I'm more trying to express my annoyance at people blaming "electric" for making things worse. I've driven a 981 and yes, the steering was bad, but I think it's because it's overassisted by design. They even have that stupid "power steering plus" option right?

Out of the box I don't deny that the 987's feel is likely better, but I think people are too quick to dismiss the benefits the electric steering provides. I'm sure down the line someone will come up with electric rack mods to decrease assist and increase feel, or maybe Porsche will even allow people to reflash the steering with the GT3 steering (I would bet 100 bucks that this can win a blind test against an older 911 if a blind test were possible). Like that, you've ditched a significant parasitic load on the engine, a ton of hydraulic lines, weight, and a potential point of failure.

The review of a stock car is something new we wanted to do without the "bar" aspect. We did just film the "bar and track" portion this weekend for the car @ MAM just outside of Omaha. Should be good to go. Much like our Road Atlanta video.
