Possibly, but it's more likely due to the fact that white/silver/black are just more popular overall as car colours generally than red or dark blue (see Autoblog), and the SRB being a popular Subaru buyer choice. Reduced option selections / colour choices are unfortunately all too common here across brands.

If history is any indicator, best case scenario is a 15% markup on the BRZ which would be $25495 * 1.15 for $29319.
That 7% figure although correct is a bit misleading because we pay double the freight (for no good reason I might add). Add freight in to both and you get a less impressive difference of 10.2%.

Hope you are wrong on the BRZ markup but that would be my estimate too. If it is that high the decision will be a no-brainer for me, no badge whore here.

The freight difference for Canada is double or more for ALL manufacturers. There is no point in using that as a reference, we all get screwed equally on it.

Huh? My point was there is a 10% real difference in price, not a 7% difference. What other car companies do is irrelevant to that percentage.

Very sad.

Now how has Scion progressed throughout the country dealer-wise? Subaru could still have some local 'monopolies' outside of major centres?

That would bring the base price to 30594, a premium of 4604 for the *exact* same car plus HID and navigation. They won't get away with it.

However, they can probably get away with a higher markup on the limited just because you can't get the same features anywhere else.

Well, my Subaru dealer that I pre-ordered with told me he thinks the price will be $29000 for the premium and $33000 for the Limited.

I hope he's wrong or I'm buying the FR-S. $3000 for HIDs and a different deck doesn't make any sense.

$25495 with 7% markup (Like Scion) would be $27300... but $29000 is 14% markup!

How recent is that info? today?

And if you get into a group buy of the FR-S the difference will be even greater. Just buy a Gamin handheld for the nav. Can an iPad do GPS? If so it might make a great portable nav, if you don't have subscribe to cellular to get it to work.

Key word was 'thinks'.

I really wonder what the hell is taking Subaru Canada so damn long?

Do they have to convince the dealers to sell it at the same difference as the FR-S and then the dealers start crying: "How are we supposed to make $7000 profit on each sale then???"

Or the opposite? Dealers are like: "How the hell are we supposed to sell it for $30k when the FR-S is under $26k?"

The only thing that pisses me off about this process is listening to a sales manager from Subaru I met at the Car Show comparing Scion to the Nashville Predators vs Subaru the Maple Leafs.

Glad the Preds are making the playoffs tho ...

Subaru Canada must be getting ready to drop their usual 20%+ mark-up in Canada because the few dealers I was talking to from the US that were going to let me buy from them have now received notice from head office telling them that the BRZ cannot be sold to Canadians.

Oh, and hello to all, sadly this is my first post (despite being a long-time lurker!).

You're off to a great start, that is very interesting information, the inference you draw seems very reasonable (assuming by "drop" you mean "impose"). Confirms an FR-S group buy for me.

Do US dealers sell other models such as the high-markup WRX to Canucks? Or just low-markup Imprezas?
