The thing is...it's not really cloth. It's like mesh. Like something you carry gym balls in. I guess maybe some people won't care but I just thought it was very cheap feeling. Even if this is a sports car, the seat materials feel cheaper than even something like a civic. I am glad I went for a limited.

I'd understood from other people that the cloth seats were rather good, I'll have to sit in it and check it out myself, it'll be rather disappointing if they went with a poor quality material.

Having heated leather seats isn't a dealbreaker for me but it is definitely a negative.

Between what you're saying about the seat material and the horrendous red inserts on the scion seats it doesn't sound like any of the seats are really a "win" for what I want.

Agreed. Every review to date of those who have sat in the premium have spoken very highly of the stock seats in the premium. Pakjk89 is the first that I have heard speak negatively about them. I will take all the other reviewers words as the n is greater.

Here's what I do which seems to work pretty well at getting the price I want and making sure that the price isn't much more than invoice. "Most" invoice pricing for cars seems to equal what the difference is from what the tax, licensing, and registration would be. So the very first thing I tell the salesmen is that I will buy and drive the car away today if they will include the tax, licensing and registration with the MSRP, so I never pay more than the actual value of the vehicle which also ensures that I'm never upside down. I've done it for a long time and never paid more than MSRP for a car. Now that I work at a dealership I realize that it's a fair price for most cars except the mini's like a Yaris. The dealership doesn't loose a ton of money and I get the car without paying more than the price. It also doesn't waste the salesman's time. I'd rather take a deal like this than one I have to grind out. Trust me if they don't do it, some dealership will.

I doubt thats even theoretically possible in the radius of 200 miles from Bay Area. All dealers are sold out, and if you pass, there is a line waiting behind you who will gladly take your place with worst than invoice offer. So, if you pass, you'll get the price you want at least a year from now....

It MAY only work if you're having a bundle, lets say, buying BRZ and trading in your car for lets say Forester. You probably can get a better deal on second car, but not on BRZ.

Thanks for the tip, though. Can be a good move in other cases.

You can get 2% under invoice pricing on Subarus simply by joining a group that gets VIP pricing. That said, at this time the BRZ is not included in VIP pricing. Check back in 12-18 months and it probably will be.

The amount of hype surrounding this car and the artificially held limited supply will keep prices near/at/over MSRP for the first 6 months.

Speaking of price... isn't it April 5th in New York already? It's been 2 hours now! (or do we have to wait for the auto show's doors to reopen?)

18 month to save 2 grand? Thats a little more than $100 per month. I'm not that cheap. I'd rather drive it while its new rather when its on every corner moded and with ridiculous rims. Sorry, guys.

And BTW, I have VIP discount and am using it for another car.

Ditto. I'm first in line at my dealer, at MSRP. They're getting 7, so mine should come in May/June I hope. I signed up for VIP last year just in case it was available on the BRZ. For $20 to a non-profit, it was a no brainer.

Btw, nothing populated on this site yet for price:

(but at least that link is set up - there's no link to access the BRZ News but you can type it in. )

Yeah I figured I would be in the minority. Didn't mean to rain on the parade. Just felt like the cloth/mesh was an odd choice. Don't get me wrong, the seats were comfortable. I just don't see them aging very well and it left a bad taste in my mouth sitting in the odd material. I just have never seen nylon (if I'm not mistaken) used on car seats.

If a car seat that has traveled from dealer to dealer for months with hundreds of people sitting in it leaves a bad taste in your mouth, you're sitting very wrong! (hint, you're not supposed to sit face down...)
(and I suggest a LOT of mouthwash!)

Btw - is the mesh anything like the '02-'03 WRX seats? They actually have lasted me 9 years, 100k miles and still look good.

I'd like to know this. The seats in my bugeye aren't attractive, but they've lasted and the cloth doesn't feel too bad against the skin. Big ass side bolsters too, but bad lumbar support IMO. The seats hurt my lower back within an hour of driving, but I haven't heard many people complain about bugeye seats.

I have never been in a 02-03 wrx but I googled an image of them and it looks like the same material. I thought mesh made the car look cheaper inside than it really was. The car from the outside is a beauty. Enter the cabin and don't expect too much. I knew that going in but I guess I didn't expect it to be that cheap feeling. But hey, like everyone keeps saying, it's a sports car. I doubt many people will complain too much if they bought the premium just for the driving experience. I'm glad I got the limited considering I want a little more of the totally package.

Looks like I was damn close

FRS MT: $24,200 MSRP; $24,970 with dest
BRZ premium MT: $25,295 MSRP; $26,070 with dest
BRZ limited MT: $27,295 MSRP; $28,070 with dest

Awesome news guys, $26k USD MSRP+dest is extremely good considering what the rest of the world has to pay!!

Took the exchange rates into account and looked at the STi, Forester (lowest grade), Outback(lowest grade), and the ft-86 and their UK prices. I then converted them to the USD equivalent using today's exchange rate to get a USD price.

Next I took the USD prices of the vehicles above (tried to match the trim levels as close as possible), and divided them by their respective UK-USD converted price. The average US price is only 68% of the UK-USD converted price.

I know this isn't 100% accurate, however using the methodology above I was able to get a USD price of:

24995(uk GBP price of gt86)*0.68(USD % of UK price)*1.56(GBP/USD fx rate)= $26,493 or $26,500 for the Premium

Figrue $1,500 more for the Limited model, $28,000

Lets see how close I get

The more I look at the math and the FR-S USD price, the more i think the BRZ premium will be a 25k+ car.

Those numbers are not OTD, just msrp. OTD varies by location.
