I'm not white or asian either...i dont think any of us were taking pics...i said i would but was too busy chatting. There were at least 8 ppl with fancy DLSR cams tho so pics will come.

They all look the same though, and the flat red really looked meh in my opinon

I was with your brother riding shotgun. The FR-S did drive smooth. We went over a speed bump and a rough patch of repaired asphalt and it was smooth. It was only a distance of <100 yards with 2 left hand turns but we both felt that the car drives nice and smooth in that short of drive.

Yeah man I had I not moved I would have been in it lol. N I was going to take pics, but my phone died and my DSLR battery was dead upon arrival epic fail. Anyways I'm sure the pics the others took will surface soon.

LOL! I'm sure majority of people who attended the event are fans of the FR-S/BRZ. I was one of the Evo guys with a DSLR (White Evo on Gold RPF1's and red Recaro seats) invited to show my support for Edmunds Inside Line. I'm a personal friend of Rex T. (Edmunds) who made the event possible for all of us. Awesome turn out with lots of familiar industry faces and new people.

I personally love this car from the look, feel, and sitting arrangement from the steering wheel to the transmission.

I heard lots of different opinions regarding the car from all walks of life that evening. Honestly it doesn't phase me at all, the car is gonna be great and bring back a lot of passion into the industry. I can assure you this will make a great addition to my Evo and lady hyp36rmax's RX8

I took more pictures of other peoples cars rather then the FR-S, it was too damn crowded around the car hehe.

There were haters there. One guy was more worried about that the sun visors backings did not have lights on the mirrors. I guess he would rather trim his nose hair than drive the car.

The interior is basic and has a economy car feel. It is built solid except for the backrest of the backseat. When it was folded down, it didn't feel like it could take a beating from a second set of rims in and out all the time. I don't think any other car with fold down seats could handle a beating after a while either. It will be used for luggage when you are driving up Highway 1 in Big Sur. The backseat is tight but ok for short distances. They even pad the front seat where your feet go. What do you expect from a 2+2 coupe? If you need more room go buy a touring car not a sports car. The driver's seat fit like a glove even with my broad chest and shoulders.

One other thing that I didn't like, was that the back spoiler where the tailpipes come out and the reverse light is at, seemed flimsy. It is very thin vinyl plastic. Thinner than the bumper material. It was actually loose. Hopefully that will be taken care of. Or there will be a custom after market part.

All in All, I love the FR-S/GT86. I'm getting the Asphalt. Nice lines. It is a sculpture. A work of art. Maybe it should be $2000 less but you are paying for performance (not just fastest) and design not luxuries. This car is going drive great! A $50,000+ sports car for $25,000. A poor man's exotic SuperCar that will be able to customize to your own taste.

the turn out was great. lots of cool EVO X's and GR STI's, not to mention the few R35 GTR's that showed up as well. pretty much all the guys i've met off the forum (obviously including those i ran into last night- a few of which I also ran into @ the FR-S premiere back in Nov.) are really good peeps, it was a pleasure to meet cha'll. :happy0180:

lots of interesting info being tossed about as well. a few worthy mentions include the following (forgive if any of this is old news):

- Toyota Japan fought hard to bring the FR-S here as a Yota but TMS USA pushed for Scion to help reinvigorate the brand and produce a "halo" effect to get prospective customers into existing Scion models.

- Entune was mentioned by several to somewhere around $2k- too much, if you ask me.

- First release series FR-S to be released in 13' w/ push button start...other details scant. this was overheard by someone at the event last night I spoke with who heard this at the Scion Racing/Greddy FR-S drift car media event held last week. i'd def consider this guy to be a credible source. take it or leave it.

Observations:

- I heard a lot of people moaning about the over-hyped possibility of an unconfirmed turbo variant. folks, this car is 2,700~ lbs....get real, it doesn't NEED a turbo. would a turbo hurt? since when has it ever...but I doubt that's the only way you'll be able to enjoy this platform unless you've driven boosted cars all your life (up to this point that includes me, but I think I'll survive- you should too). it's fantastic as is.

- heard a lot of people bringing up the absence of creature comforts and other miscellaneous stuff (i.e. vanity mirror lighting, lack of fabric trunk liner on the inside of the trunk lid, no fancy HVAC knobs, etc.). reality is TMS USA had to penny pinch in every way they could to get this to be as affordable as possible and also to keep this car in line with the premise of it being the modern day equivalent of it's predecessor, the original 86. less stuff the better if you ask me...i'm getting in this car to drive it....and if there's anything I want not already there I'll get it.

- interior seat fabric is nice...don't mind the red accents a bit. lends a nice sporting touch to the "sport" ambiance Scion is trying to promote with the interior of this car.

- visibility in this car is superb!!! you won't have trouble pushing this car around corners with zeal because you can actually see where you're going(!!!). not to mention backing out of a crowded parking lot at the local grocery store won't be to scary an experience unless you're parked next to a behemoth SUV or truck.

- as i've said before, but will say more definitively than ever before: if you're tall and are 6'5" or under you will be perfectly FINE...no knees rubbing the steering wheel. it's a miracle: a desirable, affordable and practical Japanese sports car for tall guys. it's finally here.

- def needs an exhaust system.

overall I don't like the FR-S, I LOVE it. compared to the BRZ the Yota version def has more attractive exterior design (IMO) but I do prefer the cloth seat fabric in the BRZ prem over what's in the FR-S though I could totally live with the latter. with the BRZ prem auto being probably a grand over an FR-S auto (yeh sorry, can't do stick) it might be worth it to go with the Subie at a slightly higher payment but getting more std. content more for similar $$$$$$.

I think I could be missing some info...but if I remember it I'm sure i'll follow this post up with more.
