For the lucky few that (hopefully) secured invoice pricing, does anyone have an estimate on what the difference would be between invoice & MSRP? From a bit of googling I gathered that it would be somewhere in the $1500-2000 range, but that could be off.

Sounds about right based on my experience with Subaru. I think on the lower levels (Impreza) it gets closer to $1000.

Are there states in the United States of America that do not pay taxes on cars? (serious question)

1200 or so less for the premium and 1500 or so less for the limited would be my guesses.

This will help for states that have a Carmax dealership to figure out T/T/L.

http://www.carmax.com/enus/tax-title...r/default.html

OR
MT
NH
AK
DE

Don't have sales tax. If that carries over to vehicles, I am not sure since that might vary state by state. South Carolina has a max car sales tax of $300.

Thanks for the info. I used an STI as a comparison and it was ~2,000 so I wasn't sure.

You should be fairly safe (conservative) with a guess of $1000-1800 depending on whether it is a premium or limited.

There are. Most of them, however, have large 'registration' fees.

Not sure if there's a state that has NO tax. However, some states have ways around tax. Here in OH, you only pay tax on the difference in price between the cost of the new car and the value of you trade-in. So I plan to trade in a car valued around 17K. If the Limited is around 28K after destination, then I pay tax on 11K only.

I think that's normal in every state. At least every state I've lived in, which is just Ohio and Florida though..

But there are 5 states with zero sales tax. There could still be local taxes though.

Also some states do limit sales tax on cars, like South Carolina.

Didn't some of the guys from Cali say it doesn't work that way there? Maybe I am wrong.
