Unfortunately it seems my unit is defective (no AM reception and the volume knob doesn't work) so I need to setup a replacement.

When I reinstall the new unit maybe I will take some photos and do a DIY.
I understand that it may not be very difficult, and I'm an electrician by trade so I doubt I would have trouble. I already own all the tools and that's not the problem, I'm sure I could figure it out. However, I do like to come prepared for a task, and they say more time spent in prep saves you hours of pain later. I was hoping somebody had more detailed pictures and diagrams of just what they wired to where.

More straight forward detail and not convoluted instructions would be excellent! It would certainly push me closer to ordering one of these units. Not bashing anyone specific here but in general it seems like HU install tutorials are usually wordy and don't get to simple step-by-step instructions.

I kind of tried that, but it being so close to the hole I needed to use made me nervous.

i just used a dremel to trim the fronts of the brackets, and used a drill to get rid of the little bumps.

If I would've already had a file, it would've taken me 5 minutes total, so not a big deal.

I just ordered one of these units, thanks for all of the great info! I ordered the antenna adapter, but I wasn't sure if I need a wiring harness as well (Metra 70-1761 ?). I have a fully stock car, so I just need radio/speakers/USB plug to work for now.

This is probably already answered in here, but I haven't been able to find it yet. Thanks!

Since this is a Toyota universal model, the harness that comes with the Ca-Fi already fits the car. You may have to repin a few things depending on which car you have (your profile says Taurus, but since you bring up the Metra harness I'm assuming you've since got a twin and haven't updated your profile yet). Also if you want the stock USB/Aux ports to work, you'll need a couple extra adapters.

Anyone get Equalizer working? Can't find any place to set the sound effects app in settings. I don't mind using built in but I can only access it from built-in music app

I think its only availabe in the Music App, but if you are rooted, you can use the instructions here to install Viper which is a much nicer equalizer that does control system audio.

So weird thing started happening to my unit, when I turn on the car and the unit wakes up on radio, nothing starts playing until I change the radio channel. I've tried restarting the unit completely but it keeps happening, it never used to do this until a few days ago. Also, Pandora keeps crashing even though it's not open (and no widget), has anyone who updated to the latest version experienced less app crashes, particularly pandora? I'm thinking of updating in the next day or so. I'm also still worried about the bug where the HU white lights stay on when my lights automatically shutoff at night when locking the car.

The aux adapter is a modified steering wheel adapter. SHIFTER linked to it somewhere in this thread. The USB adapter is a standard Toyota adapter that requires no modification, just plug and play. I believe it's this one [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Axxess-AX-TOYUSB-Adaptor-Retain-Vehicles/dp/B00EAYYQDO"]Amazon.com : Axxess by Metra AX-TOYUSB USB Adaptor to Retain the OE USB in Select Toyota/Lexus Vehicles : Vehicle Audio Video Power Adapters : Car Electronics[/ame] , but someone should probably confirm that. Ignore the bad review on it, dude probably bought it for a car it doesn't work with.

Thanks Prog. I think I found the adapter for the aux but I probably won't get it at this time as I almost never use aux. USB is a must though.
