If so, I feel for the buyer who has followed this car for years. Then placed their deposit early with the dealer and wants a scarcer color, only to have to wait 5-6 months for it to come in.
I'm hoping they took that survey into account....I really am. As I got the first slot at the dealership I specified.

It's certainly going to hurt getting a call in June to find out it's not the variant I was hoping for.

As far as the swapping, it's possible but only if your dealer has one that another dealer's customer wants that is currently in line. As both would still get both cars sold and everyone would be happy. If the dealer with your car has no one waiting on one....then who knows. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Most of the time, the swap will happen at one of the Processing Plants (the Inland Processing plant for Alabama, N Georgia and the Carolinas is in Commerce, GA, the other is in Jacksonville, FL) before the vehicles are delivered to the dealerships. As each batch comes into the processing facility, they'll look for swaps that match and send the appropriate vehicles along, straight off the boat/train. No additional cost, time to delivery, or miles on your new Toyota/Lexus/Scion.

I was told that GST (Gulf States Toyota) sometimes does this but it adds a week to the delivery time and it depends upon the zone rep.

Then again both dealerships have to agree to the swap.

Hopefully it works best for everyone involved and every buyer gets what they desires as fast as possible.

Exactly. The only stuff they know at my dealership is the stuff I tell them.. lol

My manager that does the ordering said he still doesn't have any access to choose color or tranny preference. BUT it is on the little drop down box/list thingy where he selects the various models to order want we want.

Which doesn't sound like much, but it's at least a step in the right direction.

In SET, expect less than 1 per month per dealer. Some dealerships may get 1 every two months, while others get 2 per month. It'll depend on how many Scions they sell on average.

I cannot confirm this, but it's what I've heard.

The sales manager at the dealer I have my order with said yesterday that he takes choice preferences. If person #1 wants White with backup of Red but person #2 has red as his 1st choice the red car would go to person 2. Someone might propose this to their dealer as it seems somewhat fair to me although having said that I would be pissed if I were 1st on the list and got bypassed. I guess you could say white or red equally so you could have two 1st choices and not get bypassed.

I think it was more of a preference. But I believe that they are sending this through distribution and it may be possible that they can at least TRY to get the right cars to the right dealerships as they come in from Japan.

The number I heard was 14 cars, but basically what ever they get is what I have to choose from.

Thats good news! Thats like 2 months away! I would love that to be the case. But like I keep saying, the longer it takes to come out or for the right color to come out the more of a down payment I will have ready to go.

I have actually been very concerned about this. Hot Lava was one of the least desired colors. But the dealership said that most of the initial cars would be manuals and I would think they would get at least 1 Hot Lava in a manual if they are going to get 14 of them. One can hope anyway.
