Just got my arm rest in today and preparing for the install. Two quick questions though.

1. How thick is the center console we are supposed to drill into? I am wondering if I need to put a drill stopper on my drill bit so that I will drill it at the right depth. But if it is very thin and we will drill through it, then I do not have to bother. Just curious.

2. Beside the 3 big holes on the hinge, there are two small holes to accommodate the two screw heads, right? I am thinking that we only need to drill two very very shallow holes for these two, right? There is no need to go through the console, looks to me.

Any suggestions would be great.

All the holes will drill all the way through the plastic, which is about 3mm thick or so. No need for a drill stop

Just installed my new nappa leather cover from Redline goods! The OEM Vinyl looked good at first, but it began to get shiny and plastic-y after a year of use. It also didn't match my new nappa leather seats which i recently installed.
Install went smoothly, these came with an additional foam padding, which is more comfortable than the thin OEM padding. A nice alternative to JPM Goods if you want to DIY.

I've also installed the E-brake perforated nappa leather boot (pictured) as well as a hood cover with contrasting red stitching which really completes the interior look and feel

Judging from your website and the disassembled armrest pics on the first page, it doesn't seem too hard to install the extra padded cover. The question is, how much would that cover cost?

It is not difficult indeed

Padding is $19 added to the cover price - there's a dropdown selector on our order page - you need to pick the cover on our BRZ [page and then click the button at the bottom of the page to be redirected to the order details page

Take care

Another question... obviously the armest won't close if you put your phone in the cupholder slots. What if you leave it in the space where the 12v outlet is?

I've been charging my phone using the USB Charger and stashing it in the little cubby hole next to the port. To answer your question, you can leave your phone on top of the cup holder, and the console cover will close. It won't close if you stick it in the cup holder vertically. If you shift the cup holder position to the rear, you can fit an iphone diagonally in the console.
