It was fun for my first track day ever, but yeah WAAAAAY to much carnage. 4 wrecked cars and one Lotus badly injured but able to drive away. And so many people with 4 wheels off.
I don't understand, this was for nothing, no trophies, your times are meaningless and people were pushing there cars and themselves beyond where they should. Really foolish. Adding a second or two of time to your lap could have made the difference between those wrecked cars driving home instead of having to pay thousands and thousands of dollars to get there cars fixed. Glad all drivers were ok though. |

I don't think we had any accident on Saturday, despite dust being blown into the track making the track a bit slippery during the first two sessions. One session was black flagged when a boosted Honda stalled after going off track, and that was it, I think. We were running CCW however.
Were the rest of the accidents on Sunday caused purely by driver error like the video above? 4 wrecks is pretty crazy.. |

I was standing just a few feet away from this camera when it happened, my buddy recorded this footage. There was a lot of carnage for sure, people pushing waaaay too hard. Most incidents happened on the 1st lap of the session, people going 100% all out on cold tires, not a good idea. This S14 in the vid that crashed WAS a nice car. It was a zenki with RPF1's with S14 SR20DET running in the 1:29s for lap times. Nice guy too, his name is Hugo. He was totally unhurt, and was very lucky. If the car landed on it's roof, it could've been bad! And no, he didn't have a roll cage i'm pretty sure.
I drove my S14 at this event doing a shakedown, i've slowly been building for 3 years and it was the first event for this car. A lot different than my FR-S. you can tell the chassis isn't as stiff as the FR-S, that's for sure. I was running in the low 1:27s in the afternoon, which my FR-S best lap was a 1:27.0 about a year ago. After getting the suspension dialed in a little better, but discovered that I blew the head gasket D'oh! It was still a lot of fun, but it was by far the most carnage I've ever seen at a track day in all my years. I'm just glad everyone was unhurt. Cars can be replaced, people can't!Come say hi next time if you come to the track and see me! This is my S14. You can see The other black S14 on the far left of this pic, that's the car that got totaled minutes later after the pic.
