Dual zone climate control is a joke in these little cars. It is not necessary. Phone has better nav capabilities. Take the money you saved and buy some new PSS tires and wheels.

My main purchasing point for the Monogram was real keyless entry/push to start. Has anyone who suggested you install that yourself actually looked into the cost/process? It's not just the start button, but you gotta add the sensors to your doors and trunk. Toyota does not offer it as an DIO either. I didn't want a Subaru and I really wanted the real keyless entry.

Not many people are fans of the spoiler so I'm sure it'll be easy to find a seller, probably not in your color though. Dual climate, heated mirrors, frameless rearview, leather passenger armrest(lmao what?) are all moot for me, especially in socal. To get all those leather inserts...unless you're hunting day and night, there's no way you can find them ALL for $600 unless you are lucky to find a fool who doesn't know the true cost of their car and totaled it.

Another reason I got my monogram was because all the comforts were DIO and OEM fitment. Good luck with that if you go aftermarket. You will always have those slight variations in fitment/wiring that's never as good as OEM.

You're in a tough spot considering you JUST got your car. The cosmetic mods you said you want really are easy and affordable to install, considering how much you saved with your deal and by not getting a base, I'd say just keep the car because you'd lose too much as a trade-in.

Mind giving me a quick rundown of how you did the heated seats? Did you just buy seat covers and put a heating element underneath them, or did you actually take apart the stock seat?

As an early adopter, the idea of a "base model FRS" is foreign to me . Back in my day, the only option we had was color, and even that was limited to whatever the dealer had on the lot.

I would love keyless entry/start, but everything else doesn't really matter to me.

Np. I meant to do a write up, but when I was doing it my phone was dead so no pictures.
I used this kit:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B1DCKL2/ref=oh_details_o09_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1"]Amazon.com: Premium Heated Seat Kits for Two Seats - Universal, OEM Equipment - High and Low Settings - Five Year Warranty Rectangular Switch: Automotive[/ame]

It comes with heating pads, switches, and regulators.

I took the seats out of the car and pulled up the upholstery on it just enough to slide these underneath. The fabric is just held on by plastic clips and metal rings. You can use special tools for the metal rings or you can just yank them out and replace with zip-ties on reassembly.

I took apart the center console (there are a couple DIY for this on the forum) and tapped the 12v supply that goes to the Aux port. I used regular wire tapping hardware from the store, no wire stripping involved, and wrapped it up good and tight with electric tape.
Run the wiring under the carpet while the seats are still out and re-install.

The passenger seat has a air bag sensor which will be triggered by the heating pad, it does not matter if you put it above or below the sensor. You can either get the warning light/sound disabled, leave the pad out, or find a good way to insulate it from the capacitive sensor. I have found in my research that a Teflon fabric should be good enough to isolate the sensor from the heating pad, but have not had a chance to try it yet.

I installed the switches in the OEM location. With my great foresight I saw I would never cut nice neat holes so I bought one of the BRZ Limited Center Console plaques by YoSpeed. The switch is a bit bigger then OEM so it slid right on top of the template and looks perfect. I plan to post some pictures in the next couple of weeks.

If the monogram came out first.. I would have waited for the base FRS.

Appreciate it for what it is - don't blame it for what it's not. Most of those "accessories" are opportunities for failure.

What I like most about my FRS base (and I do love it -a lot) is that it's in the same mold as so many classics. The simplicity, tightness, power level, handling, feel etc capture what made the great ones great. It's today's equivalent of a 356 Porsche (of which I've had 5, starting with a ratty '57 Normal coupe) or an Alfa Giulia Sprint coupe.

Except for heated seats, because every winter it gets cold and every winter I get old(er), I don't miss anything it doesn't have. "Trade up"??? Not.
