I dont think that at all! Not like your typical nightshade spray tint. Black clear housing looks amazing and I get compliments all the time.

I really don't think they are too dark. I haven't had any problems with people behind me not seeing the blinker or brake lights. Just to be sure I bought the rear fog for an additional brake light... Or at least that was my excuse to the wife...

I would just advise you to look up the thread on the valentis having a problem with all the blinker LED lighting up. I've had the same issue as multiple people on this forum with random 3 led blinkers not working. Bought from zeta less than a year ago - of course they haven't returned any email or PM ... Thanks

I hope that's not the case for them all because I just ordered myself a pair of these!

As long as you buy from a reputable vendor you shouldn't have any issues

Are they really illegal in California? I browsing through the DMV website, and couldn't find anything in regards to colors for tail lights.

"(e) Taillamps shall be red in color and shall be plainly visible from all distances within 500 feet to the rear except that taillamps on vehicles manufactured after January 1, 1969, shall be plainly visible from all distances within 1,000 feet to the rear. "

Thats the law on it, so TECHNICALLY its not illegal but as long as a cop says he can't see them from 1000 feet away he can give you a ticket. And most do as its an easy thing to ticket.

Based on friends who tinted and have been ticketed, LA, OC and SD are big ticket spots for it. And its the annoying fix it ticket where you have to get a cop to sign off that you fixed it.

If you don't want to deal with the hassle of cops I'd say get the DOT approved TOMs tail lights. They were my initial choice until I stumbled upon this thread!

I want to avoid the cops wrath lol, but I am just not a fan of the toms, personally I like these and the crystal eyes.

The Clear Valenti's look fantastic as well. Just installed them last night, but even on the Clear Red ones the blinker light is not super easy to see. Cant imagine it on the smoked :O

Surprisingly it shows up well with the smoked ones! I don't know if it's the major contrast between black and amber, but whatever they did it works really well.
