Santa Barbara cars and coffee was a fun time. Not near the turnout compared to the Irvine cars and coffee but still seen a bunch of awesome stuff.

Well, that video makes the road look just as sketchy as I remember it! At least at night you probably don't need to worry about cyclists though and you can see other cars' headlights coming before they appear around corners. Man though, that road... many rockfall, such bump, very camber change. Wow.

Anyone else think we should maybe make a new thread for the meet on the 18th? People are probably more likely to see a new thread than a new post in an old one. Paging @Wayne since the meet was your idea.

Well, actually, I don't think I can take credit for either of the two ongoing threads about a VC-SB county ride. In my posts I have only been trying to 'get down to brass tacks', so to speak, with a specific place and time, rather than merely stringing along some ephemeral idea of a local ride that never actually takes place. I tried to make it clear that we (my wife Kay and I) would make an effort to participate if anyone does put that together, but not really acting as anything like a ride leader or organizer. I've been watching the relevant threads on this area, and even added a post to the Valley thread. So far, however, it looks like no more than 3 or 4 of us are interested. If anyone else thinks we need a new thread specific to a ride this coming Sunday to motivate a few other local 86ers, I can format it with my earlier suggestion, maybe adding a video flyover for the route.

Questions: Are there any 805 lurkers here who are seriously about doing a ride on CA-150 this Sunday? If so, please post a reply ASAP! If not, do we really want to plan this with such short notice now, or try for a later date with more lead time? FWIW, because of other plans already in place, we may not be able to do it until mid-July.

I'm in 100% but I do agree with Wayne on the fact that there is only a couple of us active on the forum. Its fine with me if we have to postpone the cruise till a later date. That would give us two months to put together a big meetup for the 805. We can still do little cruises here and there until then, I'm always up for a meetup.

I'm a Northern 805er, but I can't make this Sunday as I gotta make beer. (tough hobby but someone has to do it)

I'd like to be involved, but my weekends usually turn into: up early, exercise, work on car/house/brewing, hang out in backyard, sleep, repeat.

Okay, guys, I think we need to SOGOP for this weekend. It looks to me like we have strong maybes at least from:

Unless someone wants to suggest a specific alternative, let's do this:

Where: Meet at Rincon Beach Park, just off Pacific Coast Highway (CA-1) between La Conchita and Carpinteria). Wayne and Kay will bring coffee and goodies to munch while we wait for everyone.

Time: 8 to 8:30 AM if you want to cruise by Santa Barbara Cars & Coffee in Montecito; later (10 to 10:30 AM) if not. Early birds will swing back by the Rincon to pick up the late sleepers.

Route: Early birds will start with the optional loop to Cars & Coffee, off freeway through Carpinteria, Summerland and Montecito. After returning from C&C, we'll meet others who choose to come later back at Rincon Beach Park. Everyone will then drive up CA-150 past Lake Casitas, though Ojai, over Dennison grade, through downtown Santa Paula, ending with an optional lunch there.

Since there'll most likely be so few of us, let's invite any other friends with sporty cars to join us. We may have a friend come in his SLK280. If you're also likely to do this ride, but aren't on the list above, please post to this thread ASAP. Unless the herd thins down by tomorrow, I'll start a new thread explicitly labeled as an invitation to this Sunday's ride, and if I have time I'll set up a video flyover for the proposed route. Any other input?
