The bass in my 4Runner sounds great coming from just the front 6x9s and the rear 6.5s. Unless the BRZ's stock speakers are just all-around smaller, I'm dubious as to the necessity of the sub.

The largest speaker in the BRZ are the 6.5's in the doors. If you've never had a sub and you like the sound of your setup, that's great. Also keep in mind that listening volume has a lot to do with it. Turn up the volume on those stock speakers and you'll start to get distortion/clipping/etc. For most people, stock is just fine. I consider myself an audiophile so I pursue SQ in my cars and home theater setups. Once you've listened to a properly set up system with a sub, you'll never want to go without it. Hearing bass and feeling bass (with a sub) are 2 different things.

I should clarify, my 4Runner's speakers are all stock size and placement, but have been upgraded to aftermarket speakers (can't remember the brand off the top of my head), and they are significantly clearer across the band than the stock speakers.

I just finished up a Nexus 7 project and I'm VERY happy with the results. It looks clean and overall was cheaper than purchasing a quality replacement system that had navigation.
