Racing Sims

Anybody play any racing sims on the PC? I'm trying to find one to get into, maybe get a wheel and all that if I can get into it enough.

If you're looking for pc racing sims, check out simraceway. The game itself is free, but they would love to sell you their super nifty F1-looking steering wheel. All the buttons and switches actually do stuff, and they can all be custom assigned.

Tie that to some pedals, pick up a cheap racing seat, build a simple frame to hold it all, and you're good to go. Make sure you wear your nomex gloves and driving helmet for the full effect.

Thanks, I'm actually downloading it now. I was looking at their wheel they have, looks like something for the wii with extra buttons.

It does, but it looks like it'll be very functional as a sim racecar steering wheel. As long as the sensor is sensitive.

I'd get something inexpensive to start with. What if it's only a passing interest and you just blew $300 on wheel and pedals? You can always upgrade later.

True, have you tried Assetto Corsa? I tested it out and found the controls very odd feeling.

I haven't done any pc racing in a while. You should check out racedepartment.com's forums for reviews on all the sim racers and controls and whatnot if you want to get a better feel for this stuff.
