Sorry for the long delay, I never saw your question.
The engine idle would drop to less than 600 rpm and stay there for a while then jump up to over 1300 rpm. I have had them flash the ECU twice now and the issue is mostly resolved. I would not say that it is fixed because I still get intermittent idle drop problems but frankly the engineer from Toyota was such an ass that I would rather not deal with him again. By the way, the engineer was not able to do anything to address the issue and the re-flash was done by the mechanic in the service department

@littledvl, a quick Google search brought this link up: http://www.obd-codes.com/trouble_codes/

P0000 is not on there. Searching further, all I have found is that it is a generic code and means the ECU can not properly diagnose the issue. Have you tried another code scanner?

Sorry if this is a stupid question in this thread (I've tried to search and couldn't find out for sure). My car since new (10k miles now) has always idled at 600rpm and then goes up to 800rpm and back down to 600. Sometimes it will go down to 550rpm and do a tiny shutter and jump back up to 800rpm. Is this the norm for these cars or is this also the beginning of the Idle issue? I've never had the car shut off on me or any other issues at all really.

'13 FR-S, 7089xx, 22000 miles, going to dealer this weekend.

This is actaully the second time this has happened. The first time I did a battery reset and the car ran fine for four months now. You can tell when it's going to happen though: throttle seems laggy after input, power flow is "surgy", etc. It's been a week since I did a battery reset and the car seems to be fine, but I still want to get this over with.

Update: Reflash completed. Should be fine? I question because the service manager said "your check engine light may still come on..." O_o

Add me to this list, CEL issue, then a miss firing ignition coil and then a blown motor. All in under 35 000 Km. 2013 Scion FRS.

I would not think that would be an issue. Hard to say, my car is parked in the garage As long as the car is not throwing any CEL, I would not worry too much about it

So my frs is having these same exact issues I did not find this thread until after already having these problems. These issued were already brought to toyota attention when I brought it to them for a rough idle, and they couldn't duplicate the issues while being inspected, 700, miles later after just regular maintenance they performed now a catastrophic engine failure, bearings went out. My frs is not at the dealership I bought it at for the last month now just to be denied from the fts due to the fact that unfortunately the ecu was accidently cleared when the code was checked, based on the wear on the engine he says my bearing have gone out due to over revving. When I have had multiple different toyota techs look at the pics of my engine and all say the same thing looks like a lack of oil. When I just had my regular maintenance done 700 miles before the engine completely failed on me..
I've talked to multiple managers at the dealership and they can do nothing besides go off of the information provided by this one fts named scott, the L.A region specialist
The toyota corporate call center does not do anything besides take notes of my complaints and relay the information I already am aware of from the dealership..

If anyone has any further information of help would beach appreciated

Thank you.

Pics can be provided if needed.

My car started have these symptoms about a week ago. I took it into the dealership, after they looked into it, they called and said the car need the engine torn apart to look what's wrong. Because the car was supercharged at one point, they said I have to pay to have it torn down ($1500-$1800). After going to the dealer to discuss further, the advisor tells me no mechanics that worked on the car are there and the manager is out. He has the manager call me later today.

The manager from RPB Toyota basically said that Toyota asked him to tear down the motor and see where the problem is. He said it's probably going to be under warranty but because it's been supercharged he can't guarantee that it'll be covered until it's teared down. Which means I may have to pay $1500-$1800.

He did say that he's seen two cars with this problem and both were fixed under warranty.

He said the car needs a new short block.. First time they told me exactly what it needs/is wrong with it.

How can I force Toyota to agree to do it under warranty? I know that it wasn't cause by the supercharger but that they are just using that as an excuse.

How did they know the car was supercharged?

As far as whether warranty should cover it or not, I believe the service department has to have proof that the supercharger was the cause for the engine issues. Could be wrong though.

As the saying goes, you gotta pay to play :\

I honestly don't know how they knew it was supercharged. I didn't tell them.

What are my options really? I don't want to have to pay them almost $2,000 to just tear it down because that's just a waste if it needs a new motor.

Ask them how they know it was supercharged... furthermore, proof that it was supercharged. Unless you already told them it was at one point. Aside from that, maybe see if there is a local club member who can help you tear down the block in exchange for some beer or something
