Yeah I was impressed at how different 1.5 kit felt. I didn't think it would be that big of a difference but it is noticeable.

If you are getting slow recharge times, be aware it gets slightly better as the batteries break in, but it is not significantly better.

What are some of the ideas you have for cooling on top of the tube you installed? Vented hood? Vented side thingies?

Vented side things is an option as is the hood. I think @nlowell *might* go with the hood. Im thinking about trying to vent out the side fenders.

Also on deck:

oil cooler
fans
hot girl blowing on the controller

Hmm...I like the last option!

I installed my 1.5x kit with a little help from Sojhinn. I took some pictures that I'll post tonight that might assist others with the installation. The setup with the new battery tray feels a lot more solid than my first install. That thing isn't moving anywhere! With regards to performance, I need to finish break-in before giving my opinion. Recharge is definitely slower, but also seems to give me more sustained power. I was doing some long pulls last night and couldn't trip the low voltage or high heat modes.

And yes, if someone buys my exhaust I will probably put that towards a vented hood that I will probably have painted to match.

As far as performance, I don't want to overstate this, but it really kicks. The difference is immediately noticeable, especially as rpms climb above 5000. I'm sure it will improve over the next few days as the new 9ah batteries begin to condition. I'm almost as excited about the 1.5 kit as I was with the original ESC installation. It's that good.

If you're ordering the Phantom, just tell Rob to send this kit too.
Why are you guys making it so unbearable i know Rob is working as fast and as diligently as he can to get the May batch out, but the wait is killing me...

I was thinking about the avo also, but if you compare the avostage 1dyno to the esc, the 3900usd avo doesn't seem so hot.

Plus, I'm hoping that the phantom esc is a diamond in the rough, with enough polishing it'll be awesome

I feel that with any top mount turbo you need to invest in cooling mods plus budget at least 1.5 what you expect to spend on project...Also stock clutch will be out the window with any decent turbo.
Anyone thinking going traditional FI after the 1.5 kit?
My "gold standard"is my old camaro with 170ish crank torque. Sure I had another more powerful one but that one was fun enough to break loose the tires. I think the the FRS already has more hp than a 92 v6 camaro plus less weight. Just needs torque methinks.
Sorry if off-topic.

Price and value for the ESC can't be beat. It's a great option for people who don't want to go full time fi but still want to give the 86 an extra kick
I really like the fact for avo kit is when you upgrade later you don't need to buy a whole new setup and for the stage 1 is a very solid gains for dd and backroads also great reliability not to mention the setup looks very stock which i really like.
I just hope its June already so I can get my esc kit

No concerns about fluids "venting" to air with this mod?

Yeah that's my only issue but if the the engine bay has higher pressure the fluid won't enter the bay. Plus the fender vents are not near anything fragile.

Just thinking out loud and getting feedback for the next stage of cooling.

Trying to keep it cheap too.
