I'm surprised so many people are offended by the OP.
His opinion is a valid opinion as well isnt it? And this is a discussion board after all. Personally, I get what he's saying. Theres a difference between having bad taste and just all out making your car to be a "ricer" I don't drive but I've seen plenty of examples of what the OP means around NYC (mainly in brooklyn). Hondas with mismatched paint, tow hook that never gets used, and soda can exhausts... Cadillacs with all the chrome trim that a person could possibly find (including door seams, hood seams, every seam possible) and chrome rims whose quality can be compared to nickel plated copper jewlery from random sidewalk shops... That kinda stuff bothers me. The two body kits in the OP are a bit excessive, especially the fenders, but I actually dont mind the front bumper in the second pic. |

If everybody was too scared to branch out and try extreme things where do you think the aftermarket and car industry would be today? Coming out with the same shit year after year. You need innovative people to push the market. If everybody was too scared to try things and take criticism we'd all still be driving a Ford model T (no offense to a classic). If anything thank those "ricers" for having the balls to try things out.

Don't get me wrong, I understand some people can take it too far. But from the way you made it seem, anyone who does anything to a car is just making rice if it's not a factory option. Photobucket doesn't work very well on my phone, but I'll post pics when I get off work of the eclipse and of my red interior.

IDK the op does have a small point.
I'd like our car to be thought of as a sports coupe and not thought of as a ricer mobile. Everyone can do whatever they want to their car because, after all, its their car. With that being said I've seen more and more rice'd out 86'ers lately and some are down right embarrassing. I guess if it happens enough and "ricer" becomes synonymous with our car I'll move on to something else. EDIT: I noticed someone made a comment about people that go to Walmart with no taste. I think this is a direct reflection on the price point of our car. It's the Walmart equivalent of a new sports car. Sure people will rice out anything but our car being cheap makes it more obtainable to the kind of "Walmart" folk who have no taste. |

I actually wouldn't mind at all to be honest. It just makes your job easier in terms of modifying your car. When an average looking woman stands next to two ugly ones, what's your impression of the average woman now? Think about it... |

And that's my bad, looks like the green of the camaro was discontinued in 2012. Was available as a factory color on the SS. Makes sense though, I left my job at the dealership before that.
I'm not completely disagreeing with the op. I'm simply disagreeing with the generalization that pretty much anything you do to remove a car from factory condition makes it rice. Which is how it came out with the way he worded it.

I think another problem that makes the twins more susceptible to becoming "ricers" is the fact that they already look faster than they really are lol. Which again fits into the whole honda civic stereotype. I feel like even tastefully done Hondas are looked down upon these days because of the bad apples in the bunch. Now a tastefully done Honda with some actual performance modifications, that would shut people up. |

My car gets labeled 'rice' sometimes. At the beginning I brushed it off because whatever, people have their own taste - but it's getting to a point where I don't think people even realize what 'rice' is. Saying something is rice, or riced out just because you don't like how it looks isn't really how it works... There's a difference between trying to make a car look good (personally, I take mine to car shows all the time), and trying to make it something it's not.
To each their own I guess. |

Its more like if the three woman were related. Then I would get worried that the non-ugly one actually looks like the two ugly ones if she wasnt wearing make up, if she got older, etc. lol >.>

I feel like those kits are too well finished to be "rice". More just gaudy. Rice implies use of plywood or rustoleum somewhere in the build process.
