Hybrid Performance Cars

Go with the new NSX or a Tesla Model S plus something cheap, and dedicated for fun? Provided backseat is not a problem in either case.

FYI, the Model S is a battery electric. You won't find a performance hybrid for under $50k so I can't tell you anything about the NSX or Porsche 918 etc.

I can tell you that the CRZ is the only thing close to a hybrid "performance car." Everything else is really an exotic sports car.

Tesla is not hybrid, and even in P85 guise its not fast nor quick, that's why I will have something hardcore with ICE to accompany it if I were to go that route ala a sports bike or a go kart so this is a different kind of hybrid combo for me atleast . The price difference between NSX should cover a decent bike no problem, though NSX could pack some serious performance for what it is.

Tesla to show off and impress a missus, Miata for fun and trips greater than 400 miles.

Answer is always Miata.

Hey maybe by the time the NSX actually comes out you may actually have the money to afford it!

The model S even in P85 is a performance luxury. It handles nice and tight (though hard to tell with the electric steering), and all that torque really does make it very fast. It's just gear ratio limited in top speed. If it had more top end, that vette wouldn't have begun to start pulling ahead. I've gotten to drive a model S... they are VERY fast and VERY quick within their speed range (120 mph and under).

This thread isn't about sports cars and what does or doesn't make them a sports car. It's about performance cars, period. That video posted shows that the Tesla can perform very well and disproved following statement:

Furthermore, a sports car doesn't even have to be fast. Look at the Miata. Look at the twins. Plenty of fun, both sports cars. Neither fast.

We're not comparing modified cars, and if you want to go down that route it opens a whole 'nother can of worms. 12s are pretty damn fast/quick/whatever for a bone stock vehicle.

Why do you make so many threads asking other people what car you should buy? Half the time you don't even sound like you've done serious research. Plus, you're asking people to compare a current model with a car that's not even out yet.
