Scion dealers allowed mark up?
Hey guys,
I'm very new to the collective. I cannot believe how long this site has been around and the car is still yet to be released. You are all very patient as I'm already bouncing off the walls. Naturally, I already visited a Subaru dealer and a scion dealer but quickly left both as the sales agents hardly even heard of the brz/ frs. Why waste time teaching them about the car when I can learn here? LOL. To be honest, I am much more inclined to buy the brz but will never agree to pay a dealer mark up on it. Never paid above msrp and don't plan on it this go around either. With the limited number of cars being available, it seems very likely that all Subaru dealers will at least attempt to add it. Never bought a scion before but I always noticed that they always advertise a no haggle price. Msrp period. No games, no head aches, no lies, msrp and your on your way. So, wil scion dealers be adding dealer mark up as well? Are they even allowed to while advertising the no games sales pitch all over their web site? Thanks very much. |

There are plenty of good Subaru dealerships not adding mark ups. If you want the BRZ more, shop around a bit until you find one that doesn't have a mark up.

We really need a sticky thread about PurePricing...
Dealerships can price the car at whatever they want to price the car at. The only rule with Scion is that they have to sell it for the advertised price in their dealership/on their website. So if Schmuck Co. Scion wants to sell the FR-S with a $2,000 markup all they have to do is put on SchmuckScion.com "FR-S $26,930!!" and they're are good to go. You know what they are selling the car for and there is no haggling on that marked up price. With that said, the BRZ is probably not going to be that much more expensive. A smart person would walk away from a marked up FR-S to get the BRZ. |

As for Scion Canada it seems that the main website sets the max price for the car, while the dealers can sell for less. At least that's what I got from reading the disclaimers about the price.
Disclaimer MSRP of $18,360 is for a mono spec Scion xB. MSRP does not include Freight and PDI of $1,495, license, insurance, registration, applicable taxes, levies and fees. Dealer may sell for less. Fuel efficiency estimates were determined using approved Transport Canada Test Methods. Actual results may vary. Since it says Dealers may sell for less, and not price may vary from dealer to dealer |

I don't think you'll find many, if any Scion dealers marking them up. I know the dealership I work at will not be. We don't play those games.

I was told by the salesman at Scion (just yesterday), that the Pure Price is the MSRP and thats what you pay, unless you want dealer installed accessories.

the only reason a scion will be marked up is if it has options added to it.
whether its wheels or vinyl, radios, leather, exhaust tips... this is how dealers mark up on Scions, not by adding "just because/market adjustment" BS you don't have to buy any scion that has stuff added to it that you don't want, adding to its cost.

have any even dealt with scion before?
I don't know why you guys think it is going to suddenly be different then it has been since the brand has existed, regardless of it being an FR-S. Dealer price may vary because of "taxes, title, license and other optional equipment" that is what will be listed on their websites, msrp from scion.com + whatever options they have added to it. If you guys think otherwise then fine, that is what your going to believe. If i end up going and get an FR-S, the price will be the same MSRP that is advertised on Scion.com

Scion doesn't bump MSRP for the car. Anyone that has ever bought a Scion in the USA knows what Pure Price means. It means they sell it for MSRP. Stop reading so much into what the fine print on the website is, they sell it at MSRP, that's the whole point.
The only way they sell and/or advertise higher, is if they have added other options to the car, and/or are including things like taxes, etc. Canada does not use Pure Price at all, buying a Scion in Canada is basically like buying any other car. Jeff
