Ha, but annoys 73% of the owners here it looks like.
Plus at this point If I did order in the next couple of months, I might as well see when the next years models will be coming out. Perhaps it will be ever so slightly improved. After all this may be the first and only first car I every buy. I have always bought my cars a couple years old. As you can see I keep my rides for a very, very long time.(I'm 43)

If I keep that car below 5000 rpm or so I don't hear the crickets. But every time I drive and I go to the higher rpms they always come.

Chirping since Day1. Chirping stops after 1800miles. Fuel used are 93,95,97,100 octane.. no more chirps even in super hard driving. IT JUST STOPPED!

I've had this car for almost 6 months now 15.000km in it. I live in Argentina and travel to Brazil a lot (yes with this car hehe). Argentinian fuel i use is always 98RON, and doesn't have ethanol. Brazilian fuel on the other side has 25% ethanol, no matter what, even the super premium gas has 25% ethanol.
The chirping has always been there, like always, sometimes its SOOOO LOUD, sometimes it isn't... This was before and after i got OFT so no problems there.
Honestly i just got used to it... but i wish it wasn't there.
Do you guys think that changing the fuel pump would resolve this???

Mine chirps like a motherfucker especially noticeable at idle. Annoying but knowing a new pump may not fix it, will just leave it for now.

Bought the car about a month ago with 9k miles and it's been chirping since day 1. I have tried just about every brand of gas in my area to no avail. Thought about calling the dealership to schedule a service trip but the consensus is that there is no permanent fix so I said screw it.

Really only audible at idle, but it's extremely annoying at stoplights.

I have 10k miles on my BRZ and have already had the pump replaced once and it's back... I have a cold air intake on it, does that affect the fuel pump?? I have no idea about those things. If anyone knows I'd appreciate it.

No. It's squeaking because these things are designed that way. You can replace it again, and yet again the new pump will squeak.

Its really embarassing to pull up to a meet and my car is squeaking I won't lie... I'm really close to just trading the car off.. or putting a supercharger in it so the squeal is validated...

Brought mine in for the 7-month service and asked the dealership to take a look at the chirping. They claim they didn't hear it, I'm not too concerned about it at the moment, but if I notice it getting louder or correlated performance issues I'll certainly make a bigger stink.

Dealer notes on service record:
HEARD NO NISE AT THIS TIME
VIN ends: 2047

There's a very long thread in the tech section on this. If it bothers you that much, some people are reporting success in killing the crickets by using either Lucas upper cylinder lubricant or adding a little bit of TC-W3 ashless two stroke oil to each tank of gas. It appears that little bit of lubricant in the fuel may smooth away the chirp.

I haven't tried it, but the few people who have tried it are reporting good results so far.
