How's everyones opti-coat holding up long term?

We're coming up on almost 2 years now that the first twins started arriving, and a lot of people jumped on the opti-coat bandwagon, myself included. I was wondering how everyone's opti-coat is holding up nearly 2 years later?

I noticed that now water isn't beading up as much as it used to in the first year of having it, especially on the hood. This is after mostly hand washes, with a few winter touchless car washes during winter. But don't get me wrong, I'm still happy that I haven't had to wax the car in almost 2 years!

I was thinking of reapplying a 2nd coat since I just finished going over the car with a clay bar.

Is anyone else noticing their opti-coat isn't quite what it used to be?

Deep clean your car with something like Optimum Power Clean and Iron-X. Then use your favorite shampoo or some ONR. I think you will find the coating to still be there if it was properly installed.

I suspect you are right. My car had the coating applied last year around this time and the water is not beading the same as it once was. I attribute this almost entirely to a layer of dirt / water spots sitting on top of the opticoat.

I just can't bring myself to put that swirl inducing elbow grease into remove that layer of dirt.

I think I'll leave it another year and have my detailer buff it down and apply it again. It's pretty freaking sweet only needing to pressure wash the car to keep it clean.

If I were you I still would've waxed it even with opti... Might as well have the benefits and protection of both worlds.

I've had mine for almost 10 months (opti-coat was applied the same night I got the car) and it's still beading water even after a rough Canadian winter. Not sure how it'll be in another year but I'll probably apply some wax regardless.

I found out that when opti-coat gets hit by a door or strong impact, it turns white and turns to white powder. My car is black so its easily noticeable.

15 months here. Detailed, polished, and waxed the car the day after I got it. Water still beads very well but the claims that its swirl-resistant is debatable. Even on a white car, I can still see the swirls and I stick to hand washes and sometimes self-service drive-in.

However, if I ever got another brand new car, I would do it again. 15 months and I haven't touched a wax is great. I've claybarred once since.

Good to see everyone has had a positive experience with this product. OP: Please contact me to see if I can help restore beading to your vehicle. I offer a yearly inspection detail for vehicles I Opti-Coat is restores beading back to day one if anything hasn't hurt the coating (Polishing, sanding, body work) etc.
