Scratch.. fingernail test - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

So- when giving my FR-S a nice wash and quik wax today- I noticed a nice little inch long white-ish looking scratch over the rear left tire (car is Asphalt/Gray). I found a lot of threads on here talking about beware of compounds if it fails the fingernail test..

I'm just trying to get a little more clarification before I give it a go.. Sure, I can feel the scratch with my fingernail, but does it actually have to get caught in there before it's considered too deep? It's not like my fingernail sinks into it. It would probably get caught if I was moving extremely slow.. Anyways- just don't wanna mess up anything further, but my neighbor has some Meguiars compound that I'll borrow tomorrow if it's not gonna damage anything more than it is already.

A mild rubbing compound is not going to do any damage.

Update- Finally got around to trying out the meguiars scratch X.. Didn't do a darn thing unfortunately.. What would you guys try next? Attaching a pic to show you the lil b*stard I'm dealin with here. Not the end of the world but I'd like to get rid of it if not too costly.

Perhaps if I could have a free rocket bunny kit and install- sure.. However like I said- I just wanna take care of it if there's a cheap route. It looks like Dr Colorchip gets pretty good marks on this forum and their website says it can be used for minor scratches.. For 40 bucks maybe it's the way to go.
