I run against Danny locally all the time so I know him very well. Ill have to look into the nameless one. They have a 2.5 inch collector option I see. I am Perrin all the way after that with catted midpipe.

It's the gasket that's 2.5", not the collector ( unless it's some type of one-off deal). All the Nameless outlets are 3" and the option on website is just for gaskets.

Shameless plug: If you do decide on the Nameless header, I'm selling one in the Marketplace for cheap.

If I am not mistaken, and I am new to this whole AutoX thing, wheels and tires are going to make the biggest immeditate difference on our twins, right?

I'm looking at a set of 17x9's, and I'm pretty sure I'm going with them, since they are 4 lbs per corner lighter than stock, and give me my width.

Should I be looking at 'R comp' tires? I realllyyy want a set of Hoosiers to run. I'm planning on a few AutoX days and then some Portland International Track days too.

Hooisers will put you in CSP with some FAST Miatas. If you're inexperienced with autocross, skip the R Comps and go street tires to learn. R Comps are awful to learn on, hide mistakes too well.

I started in STX because of the street tires only rules a couple years ago. I was under-modded, but R-comps are both expensive, and a lot of work since you cant just drive to the event on them. Now that Stock has become Street and those classes run street tires now as well, I would say start in CS.

You can learn how things work, try things out, and then move up to STX with more mods at a later time if you choose. You have to use stock size wheels in Street though, so those 17x9s will put you in ST.

This was kinda my experience as well, I ran R comps on a previous car and found I wasn't good enough to take advantage of them and they were also REALLY expensive, I am far happier running in a street tire class for less money and work, and working on my driving skill instead.

Well, the problem is that I already have larger sway bars, aftermarket struts in the engine bay, and a massive $3k Wilwood BBK that just barely clears the stock rims. That puts me squarely in the the STX class.

9" rims are the limit on STX, as are 140 treadwear tires, right? The STX limit is 255's, though I'd run 245s.

Oh, I think I just realized that the Hoosiers are acutally 40 treadwear, huh? So..... The new RS-3's are UTQG 200 (Which is the requirement for next year?) Now I'm lost again.

Yes, next year you need 200 UTQG in STX, which is why the new RS3 rating (and new ZII which I believe come out in November).

Is that what most guys are running then? RS3s?

thats what I have gathered, but nobody really knows what the new ones are like. The ZII is the other top choice. There is at least one big name on here that runs Federal 595RSR

And to clarify I am assuming the new ZII will be 200 UTQG, and just heard on here something about November.

Also I am in no way as serious about autox as many on here but these are my observations. I personally am only on Potenza S-04 on stock wheels with springs. Lol

Roger that. I have plenty of questions on suspension too. I'll hold off until the tire thing gets chimed in on.
