, otherwise its extra weight performance wise. However the extra weight from the ridiculously heavy stock dual exit muffler helps in the snow. The Tomei is very loud if the only other change is a catless header (leaving the other cat and everything else stock.) Some sort of odd acoustic phenomenon.

so if i wanted to do a full catless exhaust. header back. would the 60s or 60r be better. I'm assuming the 60s so it wont be so much a straight pipe. But thats my guess
anyone with full catless exhaust and a 60s?

Mounted a GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition to my rear bumper after a car wash to capture some sound from my Tomei Titanium 60S exhaust. Doesn't include a cold start sound - which is a little loud. No engine or header mods, all stock except the exhaust. This is just a video of hopping on a highway, doing some various up and down shifts, and a couple revs.
Overall I'm very pleased with the sound. There is some drone that you can get around by dropping into a higher gear and low RPMs. The sound when the engine is under load and revving up from 3k is very nice. There is top end loss of the "rumble" after 5500 rpms, but that seems to be pretty normal. Had this exhaust on at my last NASA event in St. Louis and was happy with the results. Will have a new video once I install my FT-86 Speedfactory UEL headers ... [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnDrO32UzfU"]Tomei Expreme Ti 60S Catback on 2013 Scion FR-S - YouTube[/ame]

I've been watching vids of the Tomei exhausts. The vids and sound clips of the 60mm exhausts all sound absolutely terrible.
I have the 80r Tomei exhaust on my car, with FB premium turbo kit (has thicker, heavier header) catless 3" Nameless front/overpipe, and it is loud, but has No rasp, No drone, and just sounds glorious. Nothing but deep, throaty tone. In the vids I've watched of the 80R Tomei exhaust, they sound similar to mine as well. I'm glad I got the 80R system, because I couldn't deal with the sound of the 60. If you are considering getting the Tomei 60 exhaust, I'd reallly look at the 80R as well, at least take a listen to people's cars with each so you can hear the difference. |

I'm sure it would work on an NA car.
What I've found is the sound depends on ALL the parts of the exhaust, so the choice of header, front and overpipes, as well as the Tomei (60 or 80) all add up to how it sounds in the end. My car has the FB turbo kit, which has the thicker material header, and Nameless 3'' front/overpipe with the Tomei 80R exhaust. |

Bump.
Just installed a brand new Tomei 60S on my otherwise stock BRZ. One of the best exhausts I've ever installed. Quality too notch. At low (<3k) rpm it is very quiet. No drone. Sounds great at high rpm. Tomei included a silencer but no need to use on my stock car All those posts saying this exhaust is too loud is ridiculous. Perhaps in combination with a mid pipe and headers but that is a completely different story.
