Has anyone found that the header with no wrap or ceramic coating is getting too hot?

I am a little worried about heat, especially since they had a heat shield on the original header.

There was a lengthy discussion about it a few pages back. Basically, FT86SF and a few other folks have been running uncoated without any (visible) problems. A handful of us do plan on coating still. I plan on making my own heatshields aswell. Not alot of mounting points available though...

He (and his fiance, who I'd take it as the better judge of the two lol) did mention though that cold starts were very loud, as I would expect. We both had the Nameless over/frontpipe combo, and both agreed that it seems like most of the noise was coming from that. @leicaboss hope that helps...
Did his overpipe combo have the Hemholtz resonator?

I really like the Nameless piece especially as it has an option for the resonator, but for smog purposes I would like to make installation & removal as simple as possible. Considering other options at the moment, including just leaving the stock OP/FP on there. Still sounds good with a catted UEL header + catback.

Yes, both of our overpipes had the resonator, so we didn't have anything to compare to. IMHO, most of the noise was coming from the front, ie the "overpipe" section. I'm considering swapping back the stock if it gets too loud with the headers in.

I have gotten my resonated midpipe, so that is the final piece needed to do my install. However, I'm unlucky with timing because finals are coming up. Hopefully within the next week or two I will have a video for you all.

Good to know! From what I've gathered, the only part of the exhaust where you don't get measurable gains are the catback and overpipe. The consistently sized OP (2.5") just gets a reduction in drone/rasp, if there is any. And the aforementioned loudness, which I'd rather avoid.

OK, so I got impatient and decided to install my header right after I got out of work today. I must say this was a very easy and straight forward install. Only took me a little over an hour with jack stands and hand tools.

Went for a very quick test drive and the car feels good. Definitely couldn't feel the torque dip anymore, which is nice, because that's the main reason for making this purchase.

My set up is FT86speedfactory catted UEL (obviously), stock over pipe, Motiv catted front pipe, and then the bone stock cat back.

From my short test drive I found that there is barely any in cabin noise. If you had never been in another stock 86 before you'd never know my exhaust was modified. At wot or heavy load you hear a nice little rumble, but once you get to about 4 grand the engine noise starts to mix with the exhaust sound and it becomes hard to really differentiate the two sounds.

I took a real quick ghetto cell phone video of warm idle and some revs. I'm personally very happy with the way it sounds. Sounds like a sports car, but won't attract any negative attention from the Po-Po.
