Great review.
I'm actually selling my MCS-A (is my wife's) and I never really cared for it. It handled awesome, and was pretty quick for city traffic, and was nice and small. But the ride was really rough the powerband was too "truck-like" and I just never fell in love with it. So it's nice to hear the differences and how much more the BRZ is MY kind of car. Plus I've followed (lurked on the WRX/STI forums) about RCE's springs and how they seem to be purposefully made for actual performance and not (just) looks. So it looks as though I'll get some through RCE, when the time comes. |

I autocross my Miata pantsless to save on weight. I think having legit weights for the car is great! Marketing tends to do weird things with the weights advertised.

I would think their advertised weight is high enough such that nearly all, if not all, delivered cars wouldn't weigh more.

It looks like the stock tires weigh 20lbs each, and 245 wide RS3s weigh 25lbs (RE-11's and Star Specs are 26 lbs). So subtracting 8lbs for wheels and adding 24lbs for tires leaves us with a net gain of 16 lbs of rotating mass.

Acceptable loss for having considerably more grip.... I'm surprised R-S3's weigh less than the more expensive competition... LOL Hankook FTW!

The stock rims are 9.1kg or roughly 20lbs.

It's a good review as far as putting emotion connections and all the comparisons to WRX/STI, but I feel it's a bit over hyped for the purpose for marketing of this car. We all know it's a good car due to its physics, but saying it's "just turn" and "no under steering" is just not concrete to me. Better than a lotus Elise in turn-in? Better feel than S2000? Can you give me some comparison?
Also, I don't agree to the point as not slow-in-fast-out and how to drive a kart. It's still slow-in-fast out for karting, not fast-in-slow-out. If it's related to how to settle a front end heavy car and wait for the moment past apex to hit the gas, then I get your point. |

I think he meant fast-in, faster-out.
![]() Myles is pretty fast in a kart and beats "smaller" people with kart skills pretty regularly. A lot of the comparisons he did were with respect to Subarus and EVOs since that's been our focus for a while but he has a lot of experience as an instructor in a lot of other cars too. - Andrew |

I keep wavering between being conservative with the suspension mods (just springs and 225s) or sharpening the BRZ to a point with a more extensive setup like the STI.... Hmm.
I also wonder how many of the GroupN bushings will fit on the BRZ... |
