What I said on nasioc:
This is the best review I have read including all of the "professional driving magazine" reviews put together! Can't wait to get this car! I'm so bored with my car, the feeling of adrenaline and excitement is long gone. I just want something fun to drive!! I'm really interested in seeing what this car would be like with some 245 R-S3s on it. RCE is an awesome company. I have a set of their Tarmac 2s I'll have to sadly part with along with my car. But I'll definitely be doing business with them in the future! |
Yes the factory did design some understeer into this equation….BUT…….before you get mad with visions of -3.9 degrees of front camber…….the understeer this car has is LESS than a older chassis GC Impreza with ALL of the caster and camber tricks.
Would you be good enough to finally put the "understeer controversy" to bed? If you were going to use a BRZ for stock auto crossing, would you change out the stock sway bar? (that would be mod #4 after a data logger/analyser, tires and pads...) And would you do the same for a track day, assuming that you wanted to keep the car legal for stock xcrossing? This is the best "comparison" review I've read to date... because of the comparison cars you chose. |

Stellar review. Hearing this just makes me want to get the car even sooner. I'm really glad that you compared it to the GC. I had one and I've been missing it so much. Glad to hear that the BRZ is even better than the GC.
Thanks again for the review!

Great review, and it echos a lot of my observations. I can't wait for the RCE products to follow.
Re: the brakes Yeah, even as a passenger it is overwhelmingly obvious that the BRZ's stock brakes are exceptional for the size and weight of the car. As I said in my ride-along review, I think people will only need pads to be very happy with this car on a track. BBKs will be 95% bling on a BRZ. |

Thank you for the insight. Would you consider driving a BRZ as a daily driver over your Mini?

Yes absolutely it will be a great daily driver. The BRZ is more comfortable for sure (i have suspension mods in my 05 MCS but most of them improved the ride quality over a stock Mini which is terrible). You don't really feel cramped in the BRZ, but it is definitely more a ****pit meaning a more snug and sporty driving position. Much better and more comfortable seats in the BRZ, though 2nd gen Mini seats aren't bad.Honestly driving cars bigger than an 05 MCS feels a little weird to me. BRZ felt about perfect. Very nimble feeling with the sense that you can kinda point and shoot where you want to go in traffic, similar to my car. I live in the city so my car works well for that kinda thing and I expect the same from the BRZ. Last edited by Racecomp Engineering; 03-29-2012 at 02:20 PM. |

I'm glad there is finally a car that can be compared to Porsche without being one. Great balanced review. Almost a love-story in the making I rarely feel for cars. Last one was Sierra Cosworth RS. Its time to start a new affair

Very nice writeup. What are your thoughts on the concerns being voiced that ANY form of lowering on this car will be greatly detrimental to its handling?
Also, how much development did you do on your lowering springs so far? Or, did you throw them on as "teasers" for your final product... Thanks |
