Red face Rocket Bunny Vs GT500? And other questions!

Hey guys, new here! Love the forums and the community seems great and very helpful and informative!

Anyways, I'm in LOVE with the rocket bunny kit, it do plan on getting one, but then I ran across the GT500, which looks almost identical. Is there a difference between these at all that I am missing?

Also, I've read on here that people were saying that when putting on a rocket bunny kit, you HAVE to lower the car, HAVE to get wider wheels and tires etc. Do you have to do all these? I'm a little car noobish with that kind of stuff (I have a friend who I usually go to for all these car questions) but I figured I should ask the experts first hand!

Thanks guys!

the Extreme Dimensions kit is a knock off, clone, copy. The price and the qualty usually with these kits are lower than the original kits. Your milage may vary.

Extreme Dimensions kit = cheaper price but, more work may be needed to get it to looks right meaning more cost at the bodyshop.

Rocket Bunny = higher price, less work needed to fit the kit.

Keep in mind regardless which kit you go with a lot of dough will be needed to properally paint, fit and install the kit. Have fun cutting your quatrer panels!

You do not have to lower or get wheels for the Bunny kit... however your car will look like shit! The rocket bunny flares make the car's body wider. If you keep your regular wheels on they will sit 4-5 inches inside the wheel well.

That's what I thought, though, isn't Extreme Dimensions/Duraflex a good brand for car parts? Are there any members here or and pics with the GT500 kit on?

And yea that's what I thought! I always planned on getting bigger rims and spacing them out, the part that confused me was when I read a person saying I had to lower the car!

It's really a 50/50 chance. FRP and Carbon are still mostly hand laid. For every person you hear good news from there is one with bad. When resins cure they put off heat. The slightest incorrect procedure/ammount/proccess can result in a warped piece.

The best advice I could give you is to find a reputal vendor with lots of POSITIVE feedback. I personally have only had one good experience with a knock off fiberglass part and that was from Shine Auto Project.

Considering they use mine and Mark Arcenals cars as their display cars is pretty self explanatory they don't even market their own product, which I find funny since they don't answer any of my emails regarding taking down my car on their ad. Let's market an authentic rocketbunny kit for "our" knock off kit, either way you get what you pay for, save the extra money pay for the real thing you'll be happier in the end good luck

Thanks for all the input guys! I just got an estimate from a shop, says approximately 1500-2000 for installation and paint. Seems right to me, but is this accurate?

I have the 86R kit from extreme dimensions. Worst quality I have ever received. I basically am out $1500. It is hands down, the worst purchase i've made in over 10 years of modifying cars.

Wow really? Care to explain the quality or the downsides from it? Or the personal experiences with the kit?

Yeah, the fiberglass is shit. Has to be MOLDED to the car, NOT bolted in. That means you fiberglass and bondo all the horrible gaps and sand it smooth. They arent meant to be bolt on pieces. They are NEVER removable. There were chips and cracks all throughout all pieces.

Well, Rocket Bunny kit it is for me then! Thanks for the details! You probably just saved me a lot of frustration even though I'm spending more on a kit haha

Now on a search for some wheels and rims!

Even if you can't afford the whole kit, greddy sells the pieces individually and I know a few people who did this, better buy something once and get it right the first time than to buy something cheaper and take a long time to get it right.
